First post here on the forums. Needing some advice on a cat d Noble M12 I'm considering purchasing and whether anyone knows it's history. It's the white one on eBay for sale in Fife. I'm planning on viewing within the next few days. Would not normally consider a cat d but i may be tempted if I can get a good deal of sort.
Anyone know of a good, reliable mechanic in the Lothians who has worked on M12's?
Is forum member L6NEX still around? I believe he knows a good tech in Bonnyrigg. I'll try sending him a pm.
Cheers.

Ive been to that garage before. All the cars he had for sale were rough however if it has been his personal car it may be different. He had a crazy Cayenne Turbo and a jacked up pick up truck for sale when I was there. He takes cars up to Knockhill.

Hi guys. Need to wait 24hrs before allowed to PM being a new member. Yeah I presumed the garage selling are involved at Knockhill. Hoping that M12 wasn't a weekly regular at the track but obviously a fair proportion of them are going to have had some track use I accept that. Is Graham his forum name also?

If it's the one in thinking of I knew the guy that bought it new and
Turned out to be to fast for him. Was just starting to race the xr2
When bought it and after crashing it fixed and sold on. It's sole purpose
Was to be used on track no intention for road use

I know the car from the previous owner, I know he spent a fair bit on upgrades and maintenance but you'll find out a lot more if you ask on the Noble forum. It had the ECU upgraded to an Emerald system which isn't standard but is a good thing to have so will allow you to use any engine tuner who is familiar with those. Standard ECU is locked and nobody north of Chester will be able to help with those.

I can't offer any real advise regarding purchase as I don't know you, how willing you are to get your hands dirty or what you intend to use the car for. But answer that and you'll soon know if a Cat D is right for you.

The previous owner had spent a lot on this noble ecu upgrade stainless manifolds new seats and changed the interior a bit.
The damage was to the passenger door .
As servicing he did it all himself.
I would go and view if you are serious and make your own judgment on the car.
As G says depends what you want it for.

I know Paul who owns it and has never took it to knock hill as he races in the Mini Cooper cup since owning track cars previously its a decent enough noble for the money

I have been and looked at it, the engine seemed to be good and it pulled well, the twin turbos were supposedly just refurbished so on that side its all good however the bodywork is shockingly bad, rusty screw heads everywhere white paint looks like it was put on with a roller (originally blue), the passengers side which is where it was damaged previously requires some work to get it straight again (door don't fit the hole properly) and the 400 scoops are just a mess (need taken off and ether re-fiber-glassed to fix all the cracks and ripples or new ones fitted). The inside is not much better than the outside but its all easy fixes in there like the roof, doors and cage trim ripped or rubbed through in a few areas, center console where the switches and gauges are looks like its been painted by a 2 year old and some wiring hanging down below the dash requires tidying up. Also not much tread left on the tyres.

I would say to make it all good again it needs at least £3000 spent on it. (so you would then be at the kinda money you can get a nice well looked after Noble for which needs for nothing) and after you spend that its still a cat D car!!!

It has future track car written all over it and if that's what you want then no need to worry about all of the above. All just my opinion mind, so go and have a look for yourself and make your own mind up.

I totally agree with bazbiker for all the reasons Baz said it is really rough and not a good standard for a Noble.
When I looked at this I could have got it for £1800 but it was just to rough.
