Something in our local paper about introducing a £20 fine in London, for motorists who idle their engines WTF.

Why not do something useful like catching more litter louts.

What's going on.

They are just recommendations by an advisory body (the Committee on Climate Change), not actual proposals by the Scottish Government or any Council. However, the Scottish Government has set itself some of the most ambitious emissions targets in the world and is struggling to meet them, so it is not inconceivable that they might take some of the committee’s recommendations forward (which on transport include encouraging more EVs, congestion charging, and reduction and/or greater enforcement of speed limits).

Just ban the buses from the streets. Many are 20+ years old when emissions wasn't an issue. On the rare days we've had bus strikes with predicted traffic chaos, traffic has actually flowed better as everything can flow at 20 - 30mph along city streets. Much better for emissions than being stuck for miles behind a bus with a long trail of cars (looking for an opportunity to pass safely) that stops for a minute every few hundred yards...

Edinburgh has this. Think it's a £20 fine for having an engine idling, saw it on a lamppost. I'd like to see someone try to enforce that!?

Makes for good heel & toe practice, having to keep blipping it whilst stationary to avoid idlin.

So how long must you be stationary until this kicks in, can't keep switching on/off every 10 seconds in slow traffic.
