Looking for someone to take a look at my Merc ML abs control unit....it's made by ATE so well known for being pretty crap. Pretty sure there's a bad solder in it somewhere

Anyone recommend a good auto electrician in the area? The part is already out the car so just needs testing

Iain Roy of Border Electronics. He has helped me out a few times. 07836 555512. But it may just need replacing? Let us know how it works out.

Do auto sparks go down to a board level usually?

I suspect if an ABS unit has thrown a wobbly then it may be a case of sending off to one of the many online ecu repair places.

If they give it a bill of good health you know by sending it off yourself you have saved yourself the cost of an auto electrician doing exactly the same.

Probably not, but it's such a common fault I was hoping someone could test it for me.

I've phoned a few places and had some grumping/groaning about what I've done (taking the board part off without testing everything else first) but it's a very well documented problem so there's little point getting someone take my car apart bit by bit testing everything when the most likely source of the problem is now on my workbench just waiting to be tested.

Anyway, long story short, the wife is going to pick me up a multimeter today and I'm going to learn something new.
I vaguely remember from school, but a couple of internet pages/videos and I'll give it a go. If I find the problem I'll get the soldering iron out. If I can't test it at all, I'll send it away and it's only £10 I've spent on a multimeter.
