I have been chatting with Samantha Hill who works with Mark at Preserve & Protect in Johnstone.

She has offered a potential group buy discount of 15% on their basic underseal treatment if I can drum up 10 people who are willing to put down a 25% deposit.

This brings the cost down from £330 to £280 - MX5 specific cost, other marques may vary but 15% discount would still apply.

The basic treatment is as follows (quoted from chat with Samantha):

"The basic underseal includes cleaning of the underside of the car, treatment of all visible rust using dinitrol rust convertor, treating of the chassis rails, sills, wishbones , front chassis legs with dinitrol cavity wax. Then covering the underside with dinitrol underbody wax . The process takes around 3 days.

If we need to remove all 4 arch liners and treat these areas that's another £75. We also do a full cavity inspection using a endoscope combined with before and after pics burned to disc that's another £75."

So for a full underseal, including behind arch liners, on an MX-5 sized car, I think you'd be looking at £355 which doesn't sound too bad to me.

Having done this myself on my old Mk2.5, it's not a job I would care to repeat and I want to get my Eunos protected but thought maybe if we get enough bodies interested we could save a bit of cash.

Their website is http://www.preserveprotect.co.uk if you want to have a look.

I am happy to coordinate this, I have also posted this on MX5 OC Scotland and 2 MX5-specific Scottish based Fascebook groups but thought i'd stick it in here also.

So, if you would like to take part in this group buy, could you please add your name to the list:

If we get the numbers required, I will collect a list of names/contact details and pass them onto Samantha to follow up with.

Dinitrol-very nasty stuff in vapour form.

In a "solid" state it prevents nicks and cuts from healing.

Remember once at Toulouse we were working on the top deck of a A380 over supper to get the job finished.

Along came the French painters in their FB helmets/chem suits and pumped the cargo and lower decks full with aerosol and shut the doors.
First we knew was when it seeped up the side walls and started to flood the top deck as well. Luckily there was 1 door on the top deck that has access scaffolding so we got out there.....

No one interested?

I'm a bit surprised at the lack of interest in this! Thought it would appeal to some folk.
