So open for all of 5 minutes until the truckers blow and block/close all the link roads then.

"In the gathering gloom, the storm rising in the west
The coxswain stared into the plunging weather glass
We must go now, we must take our chance with fate
We must go now, for a politician he can't be late
The airship crew awake for thirty hours at full stretch,
But the ship is in their backbone, every sinew, every inch,
An Achilles yet to come..."

Just had a conversation with a clueless acquaintance. She's not going to use the FRB because "if it's not strong enough for lorries how do you know it's strong enough for a car?". I could have attempted to explain, but it's more entertaining to know she's wasting an hour or so each day driving the long way round.

For added amusement you should tell her that the Kincardine and Clackmannanshire bridges are closed to everything other than HGVs. Edinburger said:
How can it be that on a supposed motoring website, people aren't happy that a major arterial road is re-opening?
I really don't understand PHers sometimes.
Well it it isn't fully opened for one, is it?.I really don't understand PHers sometimes.
Supermarkets in Dundee and further North were short on their shelves of fresh goods
and besides the whole sorry affair could have been avoided without an administration robbing Peter to pay Paul.
But I doubt you actually have the balls to say that, have you brathadair.
ETA
Play nicely now, or I'll take away your presents!

Zero issues further north. Nothing any worse than previous years at Christmas. Supermarkets in Dundee and further North were short on their shelves of fresh goods

It's a 30 minutes detour, nothing major. Quite a bit of the supermarket's fresh produce up here comes from North of the bridge.
We haven't run dry and aren't starving.
I've noticed zero difference.

What a morning - through the night an idiot HGV driver decides to ignore the "no high sided vehicles" warning and this happens....
And it couldn't be recovered until the winds died down.

He's been blown from one carriageway OVER the central gap and onto the other carriageway - you can see the wrecked grating. And it couldn't be recovered until the winds died down.

Presumably if you were a commuter who had to pay extra for longer travel or a business who lost out financially as a result of the closure, a claim could be made against the haulage company?
It's absolutely foreseeable what the outcome would be if you ignore a restriction in a high sided vehicle on such an important route.

According to reporting Scotland they need a 20 min window when the wind doesn't exceed 40mph for a crane to recover the lorry. Wonder if that happens before peak afternoon/evening time?
fingers crossed. On another note, it looks like it's in a bloody awkward position if their plan is to get it back on its wheels.Gassing Station | Scotland | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
