What a day......395 miles basically up and down the A9 (Dundee to Tain and back again via Dingwall).

Journey up, no problems despite freezing weather.....however journey back down.....what a nightmare, as the sun set (approx 15:45pm) I reckon approx 1 in every 5 cars had no lights on......even worse, the dummies in new cars who have their daytime running lights on but don't realise that means no rear lights!......what is the problem...do people think it costs more fuel to put your lights on, I had 3 overtaking surprises within an hour! Thank god the M3 has great brakes!

Rant over.......just (still fuming!)

It seems to be getting worse, also I usually find the first muppet with no lights on in heavy fog is driving a silver car..

A9 and roads around Inverness currently clear in balmy 4 deg temps. Been raining so not a lot in the way of snow/ice left currently. But that could all change by Friday :-)

Thanks,

I've been watching the weather for two weeks and think the last leg of about 300m of the drive is going to be the hardest part after all the rain. Expecting the dirt track (No Naughtiness) up to our destination to be gone frown. I Have noticed snow over huge parts of the Cairngorms/A9.

If it Snows it Snows, though the OH hates the BMW in the Snow - Trust issues I think. smile

Should have updated this - HOLY st!!!

Apart from it being a 111 mile Adrenalin rush it was a rather nice drive in the snow.

The Mrs hated it, screaming when the rear end gave a little wave to the traffic behind when i hit a slushy patch. Her gran seemed unfazed as she does with everything.

Next time i has to happen i'll be renting a 4x4 or not doing it, I could not over take anything as most outside lanes on dual sections were 6" deep in snow/slush and that meant i done 40mph behind a box van most of the way.

Don't worry I came back from the Lecht last weekend, got stuck behind a Discovery doing 25-30mph with a light dusting of snow on the ground. It's tough sometimes.
