My Son has received a parking eye notice charge for being in the beach boulevard car park for 17min on the 19th of November

the small print states that their minimum stay is limited to 0hrs & 0min and that he has to pay £85

this doesn't make any sense at all.... if the signage states min stay time of 4hrs but yet his reg was seen in 19:25-19:42 17min

ive told him to ignore this as searching the net it seems to be the general rule on these are they are not enforceable

whats everyones thought s

Ignore it, they sent out hundreds of these for the Track and Street Grampian meet a little while ago.

Parking Eye/Smart Parking "fines" are not enforceable in Scotland IIRC.

Down south ,at our local Asda, I've had problems with parking at Asda- on one occasion ,I got a ticket for parking for five hours. In fact it was two visits hours apart. I took it to customer service with a threat to put a letter in local paper. icket was cancelled. One lady got one for similar, but she put letter in local paper ,warning folks of possible parking scam at Asda. Major panic, with result that next paper there was a letter from manager to ask shoppers who received parking tickets to consult customer services .
best place to complain fro that is letter to local; paper, and watch brown stuff hit fan .

Unless it's a proper council issued parking ticket then it's not enforceable in Scotland. My brother just had one from Morrisons through the door and it was promptly binned. smile

basically this is a scam then

if your allowed to park for up to 4hrs but being fined after 17min with their small print stating min/max stay time is 0hr0min makes now sense

this parkingeye folk need to be reported to the BPA

Tell me what you think about parking charges.

I had to go to Glasgow a couple of weeks ago to sign an important legal document for my son. I never take my car into Glasgow or Edinburgh centres.

I waited on the train and it was delayed as was the next one, so I had no choice but to take the car to avoid missing the appointment. I managed to park in Bothwell Street and stuck some change in the meter.

Now this is the crux of the matter. The charge to park at the side of the road in Bothwell Street is an utterly outrageous 80 pence for 12 minutes. That's FOUR POUNDS AN HOUR! Think about this; the council do not provide any service, this is not a car park, you have no protection against other traffic, pedestrians or the weather. You are simply pulling up at the side of the road, the same road you pay road fund duty to use.

The meeting at the solicitors took longer than expected and I was 7 minutes over my time. A 60 pound fine! If you pay within 14 days it is ONLY £30. I would love to know how much the council makes from people in a similar situation: it is probably millions.

Maybe I'm a bit old fashioned, but the whole situation to me is totally unacceptable and is simply a money making racket. Shame on the councils.

Glasgow on street makes my blood boil

I work at west end of Bothwell St and travel in by bus to Bus station - easier and way cheaper

The number of cars sporting disabled badges is amazing (and I know dangerous to say) with very fit looking folk getting out of them.

Also the number of cars I see parked at 7:15 ish in the morning and still parked in same place often a yellow line at 4:00pm is amazing yet a visitor overstays by a few minutes and gets screwed.

Why do wardens ignore the "regulars" ?

I've had 2 of those parking eye notices.

I use them to play tug of war with the dog. Then get binned.

Not enforceable in Scotland so they can jog on.

Parking Eye will send letters for about a year or so and eventually give up. I've had several and never paid a bean.

Speaking of Glasgow parking, there's a car park on the right just off Duke St not far from High St, I forget the name. Barrier entry, pay to leave. It doesn't have prices listed anywhere on the outside, meaning you're completely at the mercy of the council as you enter. I can't think of any other service or product you use before you know how much it will cost- surely that isn't right?

On behalf of "Glasgow City Council" may I personally thank for the contribution towards this years Christmas Party.

Being serious, I do my utmost to not drive in the City Centre now - Christ, I even got the train up there this time last year smile

(I need to travel to a Hotel in Argyle Street next week - my route will hopefully be very carefully planned!)

Surely they will be going through and refunding everyone who has paid that fine, in error. ANd giving them some extra money as a gesture of good will.

Tesco carpark at Silverburn like to dish out the parking invoices, please note these are requests for payment and not fines, there is no legal requirement to pay these invoices in Scotland... Someone in our household ( I'm unable to say who on a public forum as that would be incriminating evidence) is a regular at Silverburn and usually parks at the Tesco end of the carpark then proceeds to go round the shopping centre which finishes with doing the supermarket shop in Tesco. We now have a lovely pile of paperwork threatening all sorts of actions from Highview Parking and D.R.P. (Debt Recovery Plus Ltd).

Looks like another hot Guy Fawkes bonfire next November is on the cards...

Mrs Davie has one from Euro Car Parks for being a few minutes over in the B&Q car park in Dunfermline... being a non-native, she wasn't aware and missed the single sign. They're now looking for £90.00, second letter has arrived and she's getting nervous. My sister ignored one for being in a disabled bay whilst B&Q staff loaded some gravel into her car and my old dear ignored one when outstaying her welcome in Dunelm in Kirkcaldy. I gather as they are free, the company has suffered no financial loss and thus as there was no contract entered, they can't legally pursue you for any losses? Either way, they can do one.

Is hers the Jag or the mini? Did you bother to get back to them, or "file" the letter straight away?

Hers is the Mini. Paperwork filed in amongst the massive pile of other 'parking invoices'. No I never do contact them, that's the worst thing you could do. A second 'parking invoice' with the wrong imaged arrived last week in the post yes The outstanding amount has went up from £40.00 and is now £70.00. Next one will be £110.00 and that should arrive in a couple of weeks whistlebiglaughbiglaugh
