Anyone know of a good one? The W140 needs a service/MOT... surely there will be someone who specialises with this amount of old Mercs around!

Best Wishes

Are they the guys with the stretched Beetle that you walk past on the way to Murrayfield? Seem to remember a few old Mercs out at that place, which is promising!

Cheers

Although not a Mercedes specialist per se I would recommend Craig Moncrief cars in Sighthill Edinburgh
http://craigmoncrieff.com

His customer service is second to none and has very good mechanics.

I used GSM near the Gyle one of owners was a Mercedes tech before starting on his own.

Seemed pretty good.

I'm not certain if he's still there but Carl at Mulsanne Motors in Dalkeith was a go to guy for the bigger Mercs. Whether or not they deal with anything other than Bentleys/RRs these days I don't know. Deutschemarque also have a few good guys but their services probably wouldn't be cheap!

ETA:- If you were okay with DIY, I seem to remember my S320 was a dawdle to perform a service!

Yes, they have done a lot of work for me over the last couple of years on an XJS & MGB. Don't be put off by appearances. They know old Merc's and I've seen a couple that Mo (owner) has had rebuilt.

^^ many thanks to all for suggestions, after Graeme's first recommendation went with Roseburn, who are looking after it as we speak! Broken coil spring unsurprising considering the state of Edinburgh's roads at the moment... Cheers A

For the record, Roseburn were great, a friendly bunch who got the job done (swapping out NSF spring knackered by Edinburgh cobbles/B service) quickly and affordably. Thoroughly recommended.

I knew you would be pleased. No fancy premises or B#~''*^t. Great bunch.

^ exactly that, as you say, premises not exactly Jack Barclay's, but all the better for it, still clean and tidy which gives confidence, and lovely chaps behind the scenes! They were great at keeping me posted rather than pretending everything was happening as some garages do, will certainly be popping back again if any more stuff to sort!
