Good morning all.

As above, the holes of hell are opening all over the place, with little or no warning from day-to-day, i hit one this morning on Gorbals Street (A730) Glasgow and have punctured my passenger rear Tyre, fully expecting a slow one on the front to materialize as well.

When are the roads actually going to justify the tax we pay these people? everywhere is getting worse and worse as every winter passes.

Reported on FixMyStreet.com but expect no reply as always. Glasgow City Council are showing 197 "new" reports on this site.

Me too. But in Edinburgh, one tyre and a buckled alloy! Not speeding, under 30mph in traffic. Google street view shows the pothole in existence in May 2015!!

They've always been poor, but the roads in Glasgow and Lanarkshire are now disintegrating.

Son damaged a spring on a pothole at corner of Bothwell street & Hope Street about a year a go the "patch" if you can call it that lasted about a week and whole area is a mess

Glasgow council made contribution to repair of spring yet did not bother fixing pothole!

Definately would cause other damage and justify any reasonable claim as they are well aware of it having already paid for a damage claim

I buckled a pedal bike wheel in Lanarkshire on a broken drainer that I had previously reported.
North Lanarkshire Council passed the claim to a third party who has their contract for the roads and they paid me the money (£95 if I remember correctly).
I had to prompt them another 3 times before they actually made the repair!

left hand / right hand / not on my to-do list !

I agree about the condition of the roads but why would you report it to fixmystreet (a company with no affiliation to GCC) and not directly to the council?

Hit two of the biggest potholes I've seen in Edinburgh in last 24hrs , and just dodged one, both on main arterial roads.
pretty hard to miss in the dark, esp if you're in traffic and no way to see road ahead.

Glasgiow have an APP called My Glasgow which lets you access various services on the app, but one of these is for reporting potholes. Allows you to plot the position on a map (handy if you are standing next to it) and also upload photo. And it then gives you a log of the issue.

Thanks for this, just reported a collection of approx 20 potholes on Seaward Street in Glasgow, you have to drive on the opposite side of the road to make progress along the road. Always been bad, its now horrendous.

I reported the huge pothole in Clyde Place just outside the Remnant Kings car park this morning.
See how long it takes to get filled.....

I struggle to work out how wind creates potholes!

Good luck. Lived there for 8 years and don't ever recall either section being pothole free.

It's pretty bad that I moved away 6 months ago and know exactly what 2 holes you are both talking about.

I would imagine the one in the left most lane of Morrison street on the corner of West Street isn't getting any better with busses ploughing through it in this weather either.

There's a traffic island on the A9 between Bannockburn and Stirling centre where the keep left signs have been (apparently) missing for months and no marking in place. Easy enough to see in the daylight, but at night, in the wet, with oncoming headlights, not visible at all. Hit with both offside wheels - fortunately no damage apparent other than tailgate catch jolted out of alignment, but having it checked over and a full suspension alignment done (billed to Stirling Council). If I'd been in the 911, it would have been a different story. Apparently a motorcyclist got caught out by this one too - they still didn't mark it properly until I got all bolshie with them. Probably others as well - there was a lot of debris in the vicinity.

Different scenario but going down the Main St in Mossend near Bellshill, there are two traffic islands.
One has a pole with a streetlight on it and at ground level, the keep left bollard.

The second is an island with a pole with a streetlight on it and the keep left sign is on the pole just under the light, so at probably 8 feet or whatever off the ground.

Guess which one vehicles keep hitting!

We have over 20 potholes in a mere 20 metre stretch of the street. There used to be more but many have merged together. Some are about 4 to 6 inches deep and the street has been like this for 5 years now. Only because one of the kids fell twice off his bike when he hit one of the potholes has the council (East Lothian) agreed to resurface the road. That was last year. We're still waiting for it to start on the advised date - 1st February 2016! (Yep - been and gone!)

Was back in the hood today, bloody hell those are some holes on Seaward street right now!!

Also loved that the massive "keep clear" areas painted on the road turning in to the industrial estate don't apply, nor do the double yellows on Seaward Street.

Yeah I know. Only part of Glasgow where double yellow lines mean you can park wherever you want. The keep clear area is hilarious.

The pothole area on Seward street is terrible, reported twice now, nothing has been done. The whole traffic flow is now affected as every car move across to the oncoming traffic to avoid them.
