The home report doesn't go out of date(common misconception)
Goodness me, so if the market crashes (or even just dips...
If you are taking a mortgage you'd find out when the lender requests an up to date transcript of the valuation, but thats usually agreed and arranged by the seller AFTER you make and have an offer accepted. Its a very flawed system.

If its been on the market for ages, assume nothing from the value on the Home Report as its probably been overvalued. Thing is as I say, you have to convince the seller of that.

Born in Glasgow but not lived there for many years. You've been given pretty good advice. I stayed mostly in Dalziel Drive environs. Here's a current offering from that locale:

I stay two roads over from Dalziel. It's the perfect location, 5mins from Central on the train, 5mins in the car from the M8/77/74. If I could pick my place up and put it down anywhere in Glasgow I'd only move it further down my road. Upper Whitecraigs would be next but it's too far out.

Can't speak for the schools though. I assume my old place is still up there (was always the best in East Ren).

Stay away from the west end. Overpriced and overcrowded.

School wise, back in the day, most staying around there would go to Glasgow Academy, Glasgow High, Hutchesons' or St Aloysius. That was fifty years ago, but from what I hear, I think they're still ok.

With any luck I'll never need to know...

I am biased, but check out Bishopbriggs/Lenzie area. Sits right on the motorway hub so great for heading in all directions

Lenzie is a lovely place to live, I grew up in the area and went to Lenzie Academy. Stepps is also very nice but the nearby high school inst nearly as good as Lenzie.

I wouldn't have thought so. biggrin

Actually, I once had a girlfriend who lived in Bishopton and it was a very nice place (with a great Indian restaurant).

They're planning to build about 3000 homes on the old Bishopton ROF site aren't they?

Can't imagine that's going to make Bishopton a nicer place to be with 3000 extra cars driving through it everyday to get to the M8. Also got the HP facility nearby with 1000+ cars travelling to that everyday.

... and yes, less chance of getting a table at the Bishopton Tandoori.

There's been prep-work done for the new M8 ltd junction just East of the Erskine junction. That'll keep the traffic away from Bishopton town.

After the early comments on this thread, I am very much liking the @visitgovanhill twitter feed. Can't post pics from here, but the nativity scene is a pretty good one smile

3000 houses give or take. 1500 or so built and occupied so far. Just now its still a rather quiet place to be.
The HP facility does not really affect Bishopton. A few cars might travel through but most come off the motorway and straight into the HP plant. (drive past it every day)

Nicola Sturgeon's constituency. She's doing a great job.
