Cars and Glasgow don't sit well with Glasgow's greeny aspirations so they won't encourage that, ..now if it was a cycle race, that would be very different.rolleyes

If you've ever been to Glasgow's Riverside Museum, you'll see that they have stuffed the cars and bikes up on shelves so that simply they apppear as some kind of art form to the general public, deliberately frustrating the automotive enthusiasts. Glasgow does not wish to glorify or encourage car ownership, (especially classic cars) to the visitors, but you will notice that the vehicles that do have pride of place and are accessible, are mainly public transport vehicles. This is by design, for obvious reasons and not one of size. Compare this place to any other transport museum in the UK and you'll see what I mean.

I'm surprised the MC Rally doesn't start from somewhere in the east as that's where most Scottish automotive interests lay. smile

Car enthusiasm in the west, is very minimal apart from a few hard core types. I take the Corvette out up and down the A77 coast road from Ayr to Portpatrick which is our very own Highway #1 and a lovely drive especially on a sunny day every Drive it Day, and I've yet to see another classic or otherwise interesting car on the road. rolleyes However, anytime we venture out east for a jaunt, there are always some photo-worthy jalopies around.. cool

Bit of a thread resurrection, but went along to Paisley last night and it was OK, some nice cars and decent access to them for pics etc. However it was a bit dull in comparison to the Glasgow Green one a few years ago where they had the cars doing a circuit within the Green. Not knocking Paisley as they seem to really put a lot of effort into it, but guess the location, which is stunning BTW, restricts what they can do. Such a shame that Glasgow decided not to host it again at Glasgow Green

Dam it missed it this year and could have gone along as was in the area last night ...have been to the last 10 starts and all the Paisley ones .Generally a good night and as you say can get close up to the cars .The best was defiantly the Blyswood Sq start in 2011 was in the Hotel looking down on the start ramp the place was buzzing .
