PH ECOSSE RUN CANCELLED - SORRY

Firstly thank you to the various people who have contacted me this afternoon.

I am sorry but after almost 50 PH Ecosse Runs over the years sadly for the first time I am having to cancel a run due to the route being shared on the public internet.

We do make it clear that the route details are not to be shared.

The PH member and previous run participant who shared the route did not get it from me so I have little confidence in the route not being widely shared without my knowledge and it has been published on facebook.



Please take my sincere apologies for any inconvenience particularly those who had changed weekend plans to attend.

Absolutely gutted to see this but the right choice, was looking forward to my first PH run! Both myself and Nikos were deleted off the group in question after pointing out that the route shouldn't be shared. Hope there'll be another one in the near future.

it was me that posted it on facebook, in hindsight i should have left the pic off, but i didnt forsee it becoming such an issue. it was posted on a private page where i've organised a number of runs (which included the route on the event), so i did not think it would have caused any grief. i apologise for not respecting the wishes of the organiser.

i dont think the run needs to be cancelled though. if the OP is not up for picking another route then i am happy to organise an alternative so nothing needs to be cancelled. the pic was only up for a few hours, so i dont think there's really any need to be concerned if anyone wants to go on the original route.

I think it's a case of trying to avoid unwanted attention.

I went to a car meet in Newcastle a few weeks ago, not a run just a car park meet but the organiser had contacted the local police to let them know, I passed at least 3 undercover cars that had been sitting waiting for us coming down for it

had to pull out of the last run at the last minute as I had to work.

don't blame you for canceling it due to the route being put up elsewhere by someone you didn't sent the route to.

I've become free this Sunday, rare for me.

I'm up for original route, or a new route, whichever is chosen by the masses.

Since its out there, could I get a copy of the route, it looks good and is not far from me!

I can see the issue. Once the route is out it has the potential to turn into something horrendous, a bit like the houseparty that turns into a rave with 1000 people attending, and all the unwanted attention and bad press that may go with it.

Really sorry to hear it has been cancelled, however I agree with it being cancelled.

I will keep an eye open and maybe join in on part of a longer run if you head more north!

The one run I have made so far was brilliant, well thought and thoroughly enjoyed!

I thought the original destination was in a more northerly direction anyway?
