Hi all, might be needing some engine work done, (possible valve stem oils seals have gone) and looking for recommendations for a really good independent BMW man. Im based in Motherwell so the closer the better.

Not a BMW specialist but you could try Marc at The Garage in Motherwell.

He looked after my M3 and i'd recommend him.

There is a BMW specialist in Holytown.
It's on the Main Street, been there for as long as I can remember.
Looked after my brothers old E46.

You could walk home from there it's close enough.

I live in Holytown and all the years that garage has been there, I have never once seen a customer at it!

Is it a E39 by any chance? I thought I needed new valve guides in my 525 as it occasionally poured white smoke out on start up. An ex BMW mechanic friend suggested adding Forte Seal Conditioner http://www.forteuk.co.uk/product-detail/24/Seal-Co... to the oil as the rubber valve seals can harden through time. One dose and problem sorted.
