On the Transocean Arctic 3 for the next 2 weeks as upman on the ROV crew. Seems a decent enough rig.

I was on there last summer drilling in Rotterdam. Not a bad rig. Is Heinz the driller still there? G

Oh dear Total Mannie said: The Elgin G4 wellhead assembly with a view of the source of the gas leak on April 5, 2012
The Elgin G4 wellhead assembly with a clear view of the source of the gas leak coming out of 4 ports (release points). Localized deposits of condensate and drilling mud were expelled on the wellhead area of the Elgin Well Head Platform at the beginning of the leak and have solidified. This mud contains predominantly a drilling fluid, which is readily biodegradable. This drilling mud is not harmful to the environment.

I am genuinely interested as although i have no experience i am looking into getting into offshore type work and ROV's are an area i would love to get into/learn about.

But, what do you do?
The part of Subsea 7 i work for (I-Tech) mainly do intervention/drill support with work class ROVs. Right now we're sitting on 'bubble watch' which is just monitoring with sonar for any gas which may escape while the rig is drilling

Sounds like one of those jobs where you hope to remain totally bored as the alternative is not good?

All things considered, would much rather be offshore - sure its nice to have a beer in the evening, but there is much less chat with the crew on land I found (although my crap German may have contributed :P)
