Offshore at the moment?

still on 2/3 on foinaven
cost cutting taking place by removing bonus scheme (for most but not all lol all it it together my ARSE) and some who were 2/4 with clawback are now 2/3
no OT if at all possible.
co. looking at further cost cutting in 2017 quite a few heads could be chopped tbh with a possibility of equal time rotation.

Stark reflection of the O&G sector that this thread has been quiet for months!
2 years later and it's still no better...I gave up trying to find anything 2 years ago and took a "normal" position, just marking time now waiting for the market to pick up, if it ever does.
I know the industry is cyclical but we seem to have been stuck in the doldrums for years now.

6 days left of another 5 week hitch in Ivory Coast
I did just shy of 6wks earlier this year on the Espoir (mid 40s on dayshift), plus a night either side in the Onomo Hotel at Abidjan Airport - fun and games..........and flying to Angola on Tues where I'll be based at our Luanda facility - let's see what that's all about

I finished up in Angola a year ago and it was an absolute ghost town albeit still a very expensive one......and flying to Angola on Tues where I'll be based at our Luanda facility - let's see what that's all about
Rumours are that things will kick off again after the elections in a few weeks time.
I'm currently rotating out of Egypt

I stopped living there in 2011 and my last visit was 2013 yet I still miss Luanda and would return there in a heartbeat!!
On my way to Angola today. Been a regular(ish) land based project since March. Soon to go offshore with it. The BA flight usually has 15-25 passengers which makes the overnight flight quite pleasant.
Working in Lobito which if you squint a bit, reminds me of Cuba in places. The Angolans seem friendly in Lobito, can't comment on Luanda, all I see of that is the Tropico.

25 people... god that's a change....Working in Lobito which if you squint a bit, reminds me of Cuba in places. The Angolans seem friendly in Lobito, can't comment on Luanda, all I see of that is the Tropico.
I was normally in 1st on that flight as my contract stated business class minimum and that was usually booked fully long before I knew my days off dates.
Less said about the Tropico the better, I went there once or twice, my house was on the Ilha which was altogether a nicer place to be based lol

I didn't particularly like the place but the package we got for there was decent so was happy to do my three years. Crime rate took took an upward curve with the downturn.I stopped living there in 2011 and my last visit was 2013 yet I still miss Luanda and would return there in a heartbeat!!
We also used BA but lost business travel too, most of the regulars who sat at the front slowly moved to the back and before we started using cheaper airlines in 2016 the BA flights always had loads of spare seats
The Tropico got a full makeover in 2015 and was actually pretty decent thereafter.
