I am off to the Gorilla 5/Franklin tomorrow morning, it's a 6 am check-in which is a bit of a bugger.
I was on the RG 5 a few weeks ago for 4 days BurblingBrownOne said:
Anybody been offshore Baku before ?
Im heading out to the East Azeri platform there this weekend?
Any recommendations for onshore entertainment there?
Not that I would be drinking in excess, the night prior to a check in

Forgot to put something about onshore entertainment.
If you are after 'company' Coral or M Brothers seem to be favourite, but watch your wallet !!!!! the pubs I use are Golden Bridges and Shakespeare at Malikan Square, Adams Bar and the wonderfully names Camel's Toe both close to Fountain Square, and if there is sport on the Caledonia is a good place to be, good atmosphere for football, rugby and motorsport.
Best eatery IMO is the Azza Cafe at the end of Fountain Square, but I haven't tried everyplace yet and there are loads of decent places to eat.

Fog arrived last Tuesday down here (Southern N/Sea)and has not lifted since !Four crewchanges have been delayed and we are now using supply boats and basket transfers. Boat can only take 12 at a time unfortunately, so we aren't clearing the backlog.
Forecast is bad till at least Thursday. Several times it has thinned enough to mobilise aircraft only for it to close in again by the time they get out here.
My crewchange is officially tomorrow but anything before the weekend will be a bonus.
