Hi,

Has anyone here had any experience of wallace performance in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen? I understand that they have a rolling road system in place, has anyone used it?

Am thinking of getting some engine modifications done to the griff and am looking for a good specialist who knows the rover v8, so if any of you have any suggestions please let me know.

Cheers

Ian

I have had some experience of that company, it was not entirely good.

I get the impression they are happiest with Evos, Imprezas and hot hatches.

With recognition of the rules of this forum, I will not comment on Wallace Performance.

Take your Griff to JD Motor Engineers in Insch.

Never used them myself but there are a few comments on the Scotland section on Scoobynet that aren't particularly good. There are a couple of ok comments though.

Dastek in Fife too far away?

Thanks for the infomation, I think I will contact JD in Insch instead. It is such a shame that we have such few good mechanics out there, that we have to travel to get to them! Still lovely drive in the griff on the cards... excellent. Now getting home. mmmmm.

getting home is easy - the station is about 10 ft from the garage and you'll get a train straight into Aberdeen!

Not sure why everybody seems to have a downer on Wallace Performance. I've used their rolling road a few times and have always been happy with the service and results.

Does JD in Insch have a dyno also?

Wallace have worked on the the Cerb, the Sagaris, the T440R and the Typhon at various times, and for various different reasons, and have been immensely helpful, and often at quite short notice.

I just had my car remapped, serviced and brakes done by wallace performance and found them to be really helpfull and very professional. I would recommend them highly for the quality of service too.
My pads had given up the ghost on the way to Aberdeen and Russ Wallace took the car in the following morning without any prebooking.
I would speak to them first before making up your mind without listening to too many opinions on here. If you are not happy you can walk away

Thanks for all the advice here guys, I think I will take a day out and go and visit both places to get an idea first hand what they are like, i believe you can get a good idea of how they work from talking to them and looking at their workshops etc.

Part of the problem is that I have some of the parts already that need fitting, and some major parts to be supplied by the garage, not too sure how some garages deal with that as they like to supply as well as install.

Will let you know how I get on.

Cheers

Interesting, I was looking for a local rolling road to set up the TVR. For a basic set up I tried a number of places and having an older TVR a number simply refused to touch it. Jeez an RV8 engine is not overly complicated and all I wanted was to double check my set up and set the mixture. Anyway usual Aberdeen Landrover garages said no, a number of others said if they cannot plug it in to the computer they cannot do it !!! so I took it to my local garage Westhill Service Station. The young mechanic played with it a bit but just could not get it right until the foreman dusted off the old Crypton tuner in another workshop. Apparently the young mechanic had never seen anything like it but the tuner found HT lead problems and a slight coil issue, all replaced and what a difference. Certainly recommend these guys plus their hourly rate is excellent, will look into the Insch RR guys as well.

Insch has no RR. Best RR in the north east (non 4wd) is Ricky Gauld's.

As for Wallace, I agree fully, try them to make up your own mind but it could be an expensive mistake......

(BTW his name's not Russ Wallace. The guy who set up the place is called Gavin. Russ now runs it - can't remember his second name)
