Hello good people of Scotland.

Yet an other year has gone by where I've missed out on the best racing spectacle in the world - Le Mans, due to lack of organisation and funds more importantly.

So I my aim for 2008 is to make the pilgrimage to motoring mecca and whilst I'm down there, take in that little heard of place, the Nurburgring wink

So the simple question is, who's up for it?! I've been watchng loads of videos PHers have posted of their antics at Le Mans and infamous 'Ring and if anything it seems its best served with the largest group of mates possible.

Plans are sketchy at the mo, but I'd like to gauge preliminary interest to see 1st of all, who fancies going to Le Mans next year with a side helping of Nurburgring and then take it from there.

Oh and here's some vids to whet your appetite thumbup

I'm not sure of exact dates or anythin like that, but given a decent enough amount of time, it shpould be possible to take in the 'Ring and le mans within the space of a week.

Here's a couple of sites about the 'ring itself

Excellent stuff.

I would Imagine that the Last week in June would be a date to aim for. Natuaraly it would depend when Le Mans is held next year.

Just back from le Mans, heading off to the 'Ring in late August.

Interested, will probably do Ring/Le Mans combined for next year: Ring first or last?

No idea Richard. I'm open to suggestions though. Perhaps Ring 1st? (Although I envisage everyone else in Europe doing this format too)

Have you done the 'Ring before?

I posted here a while back about a trip a bunch of us are doing in October to the Spa classic 6 hour race.
Basically the trip is Saturday Sunday at Spa watching the races, Sunday evening drive 120k to Nurburgring, Monday on Nurburgring driving back to Spa on Monday evening for a track day at Spa on Tuesday. BTW Spa is 120k from Zeebrugge so no big mileages involved.

Last May, 7 TVR's, VX220 and a 944S. Just excellent.

Would do it too but not using Rosyth ferry.

Used that for Le Mans this year on way out and cut a day off my travels by coming back via Chunnel train which was really good.

I'll be up for LM next year for sure. Missed it this year sadly. Trying to pull resources with as many folks as possible to justify a hiring a van for the essential genny, fridge, etc. Four of us managed in the Beemer last year but there's barely room for spare pants in the Seven. Anyone near Aberdeen give me a shout if you're interested. Will be myself & three others at least.

CANNOT recommend a visit to The Ring enough........

Allow me to moisten your loins :-

You simply have to do it before you die if you consider yourself a true purveyor of the motion lotion

Good luck with your plans !

I'd be up for this, although I would guess a combined Nurburgring & Le Mans trip may be a bit impractical and/or busy.

VetteG,

Are there any places left on your ring/spa trip?

If the timing works out I am planning on doing this next year. Although reports of the descent into crap of Le Mans are putting me off and I am considering the ring 24hr instead.
All depends on work but due to all the music festivals June/July is usually quiet.

The Spa track day is the only thing with a limit, I'm not sure yet whether I have a place myself, but other than that, feel free to join in. Have a look at this thread.
