Alford Sunday 15th July
Discussion
Changes for Alford from Anne Smith GAC.
Due to the extremely wet weather conditions recently, we have had to make some changes to the arrangements for Alford Sprint next Sunday.
The normal paddock area is completely unusable and the paddock will now be situated at the opposite end of the site. Entry to and from the track will also be at that end via an alternative slip road.
Although the track and start and finish lines remain the same it will take some extra time between runs to get cars into position and this means that there will be only one practise run and two timed runs on the day.
Every competitor must walk round the slip road and the layout of the track to familiarise themselves with the new arrangements before signing in.
Parking of trailers and lorries is going to be very difficult and all trailers and support vehicles will have to be parked outside the museum grounds. Only competition cars will be allowed in the paddock. With this in mind we would ask you, wherever possible to drive competition cars to the event rather than trailering.
Competitors will now enter the event by following the brown sign to ‘Alford Valley Railway’ which is just off the main street opposite the Vale Hotel. As you go down this road you pass the station on your left and the entry gate is just beyond that on the left.
You will be met at the gate by a marshal and given directions to your paddock space. You will also receive a plan of the area and entry and exit for the track.
Remember that we are on the edge of a residential area so please keep the noise to a minimum.
Please follow marshals instructions so that everything can run as smoothly as possible on the day and pray for a sunny day.

Might pop across for a wee spectate on Sunday, weather permitting.
IantheBruce was I following you home tonight from Fyvie?
(Silver Merc not Audi anymore)
Did come in a bit close to try and see if there was a PH sticker.

So what time do you reckon I need to be there on Sunday, about 8 ish or closer to 9?
Forgot to say, I'm marshalling
I would say nearer 8 as we will need all the marshals we can muster from the start to keep the hordes in their new pens (only joking).

Trevor, how dry/muddy is the area intended for paddock space ? said

I reckon it's going to be chaos on Sunday morning. My intention is to take the car over on Saturday afternoon and get set up.
Anne confirmed this is possible and I reckon others should do so if they can.
Anyone know what time the site will be open until on Saturday? (forgot to ask Anne)
One other thing ... Trevor, assuming you'll be on the line, can you arrange it for me to start about 10m forward?
Cheers,
Eric

The workparty will be starting around 9.30 in the morning running right through until around 4.00. The paddock is drying but don't think its worth using it as it could waste the area completely. Sorry Eric but won't be at Alford going away on Hols but the daughter will be in the timing caravan and with money she can be bribed to knock the clock off early.
