Very knowledgable Simon Smail having worked with Pilbeam, touring cars and F1. Polite, calm, methodical as he put my Escort mk1 through 2 dyno power runs this morning. Not expensive, a safe increase in performance and a mug of tea. Delighted.

Any recommendations for checking the alignment/tracking on my MR2 Roadster in the Aberdeenshire area?
Ricky Gauld in Huntly or Clark Motorsport in Kintore seems to be the usual responses. Both have the Hunter alignment machines, I believe.I take it these places will also do wheel balancing? I think one of my front wheel counterweights have dropped out
ETA - Tawse Tyres FTW

While I'm at it, is there anyone (again in the Aberdeen(shire) area) that are good with rear brakes and handbrake auto adjusters?
Mine are binding, particularly on one side. My local garage have had a go but failed since the discs are still getting very hot compared with the fronts. Not sure if its the calipers, or might be faulty handbrake autoadjusters (a common problem with MR2s).
ETA - Removed the calipers myself and used Big Redd to do the refurb work.

Hiaye.
Have read all the posts for Porsche servicing.. but what about more invasive / repair type stuff?
I am going to need the clutch doing in my '93 C2 964 fairly soon.
So engine out.. and no doubt a few other jobs while we are in there.
ie will be looking at:
Remove engine and box, replace clutch.
Remove left hand (probably never been off and seized to F***) Heat exchanger and replace with a new one I have (Cat Flange is nearly corroded through at the bolts)
Replace engine oil lines
Check / replace fuel and hydraulic lines.
Couple of new tins
Full service while its out..
etc.
Later on I will be getting into suspension replacememt (KWV3)/ setup, probably a wee bit of bodywork.
All fine if you have a relationship with a garage. But this is name out of a hat stuff for me and that makes me pretty nervous. Would far prefer to do all myself.. but I am just not set up for major surgery at the moment.
Anyone got experience and recommendations for this kind of thing?
Im in the North so does not matter where in Scotland really.
Cheers,
Chris

Brian Millar in Edinburgh and George Morrison have done this sort of stuff for friends, but with their new lower prices it would be worth phoning OPC. Have read all the posts for Porsche servicing.. but what about more invasive / repair type stuff?

Would recommend David Phillips in Edinburgh. Had a new clutch and suspension fitted this summer on my wife's 964 Carrera 2 Targa and David did a great job of it. The only thing he did not do was the Geo but popped across to CLCM in Sighthill to get Willie to set up the car.Have read all the posts for Porsche servicing.. but what about more invasive / repair type stuff?

Good prices, excellent professional service and you can pay him whenever you have the cash.
He can also collect your car. Does motorbikes too.
I have absolute trust with this family run garage.

Can anyone confirm if BM Motors in Law Village is still in operation or possibly changed contact details? I have seen numerous recommendations here and on various BMW forums all positive. But for the life of me I can't get the number to work. I'm having prop-shaft / diff problems on my 2002 e39 M5. If anyone can recommend any other BMW specialists or someone who specialises in back end issues! then I'm all ears. I'm located in Falkirk area but am prepared to travel (on a flatbed) for the right garage.
Cheers,
Paul.

I can recommend SWR in Stirling for all things renaultsport, from what I can see they'll tackle anything, very reasonable and good service. For car cleaning I can whole heartedly say go to Ultimate Shine Autos they have a great range of cleaning products and a wide range of services it's also a great place to see some exotica.
