I've just heard that Golspie is playing host to some sort of mega pipe band championship on the weekend of the September sprint. I am booked into the Sutherland Arms, where I'm told most of the pipers are staying. God help us all!

perhaps there is some advantage to not getting an entry after all

John,

I remember this caused problems for me getting accomodation last year (or maybe the year before).

The event in question is actually the Dunrobin Castle Piping Championships.

I couldn't get in anywhere again this year so I've ended up this place in Brora.

Bit of a logistical nightmare this time with having the dog.

Cheers,

Eric smile

The Royal Marine is a great hotel and Brora not too far away

If you are stuck for accomodation give the St Duthus hotel in Tain a bell its about 20 mins away and superb food.
I will see some of you up there as the missus is from Brora originally so its a short hop from her folks house.
I was too late again for an entry gutted as I have not had the car on track yet soon maybe

You'll be ok with the caravan, if nothing else, it'll be a good place to continue the party!

I've had to scratch from Sunday, but will be there for Saturday - if I survive the night after pibrochs in the Sutherland Arms!
I now have a car that revs like buggery up to nearly 14,000 and goes like stink but for some reason refuses to start!! Anyone want to buy it? Cheap....seriously.... I'm thinking of getting a road legal machine again with a car engine for next year. At least then I'll know what it is I don't understand - if you see what I mean!
See you all Saturday 8th - or Friday night 7th even.

It's all relative. See, central belters (more specifically the ones from the west) would have you believe that since I'm from Aberdeen, I regularly enjoy bum love with sheep. As it goes, I say similar of people from the highlands. It's an "Irishman / Kerryman" thing.

Reminds me a bit of that sketch from the Frost Report. You know, the one with ;Cleese, Barker and Corbett - "I look down on him ...".

Funny, just last night, a friend and colleague who is from Peterheid described, in all seriousness, people from Boddam as; "deliverance mountain men". The irony had me in stitches.

The thing is that there's always someone below you in the special pecking order for bigots but nobody cares who's below that.

... and before you ask; yes, I have been drinking.

Cheers,

Eric smile

Eric - Here in Brechin (population about 7,000) we have similar neanderthal rivalries between people living a street apart. But then, there's not much to do in Brechin!!!!
