Hi from Sunny Dubai biggrin

Which is much better than cold Baku which I left on Saturday, unfortunately just for two weeks frown

Anyhoo, does anyone know when the 2008 dates for HSC/SSC/SHC are likely to be announced, so I can start trying to manipulate my work schedule for next year.

Could you kindly email them to me as well please biggrin

That way I may be able to choose some Knockhill and Alford dates that don't clash with sprint/hillclimb event smile

Nina (or David?),

Is there a reason you can't post what you're emailing?

Maybe it's something to do with the top secret event that hasn't been spoken about. wink

I understand that to get an entry, you have to knock three times, say big Dave sent you and then say the password. biggrin

Seriously though, I'll be surprised if anything other than a very provisional calendar exists at this time.

Cheers,

Eric smile

p.s. email me if you like wink

Eric,

Rest assured that, as soon as the calendar is confirmed, it will be made public, both by emailing the crew and also via the website. The problem with 'going public' before the 't's are dotted and the 'i's are crossed is the possibility that someone somewhere will say 'but you told me.... and now I have made plans' if the thing has to change.

The calendar is pretty much sorted, except for one venue where there are some issues that need to be resolved first.

Who is the 'Big Dave' you talk about? Now, if you had said 'Slim Dave', I would know who you mean.....

It seems that you have to be a member of the "in crowd" to get a PROVISIONAL copy of the 2008 calendar.

nudge nudge - wink wink

Mr Observer - you are going to have to make it to some of the 'dates to be publicised' sprints and hills and introduce yourself to some of the people who post on here - we need to meet the person behind the 'humour' ...

If you mean 'in crowd' is people we know, then yes - we do need to be satisfied that we know who you are. One of the problems with forums such as these is that people are not always who they appear to be...

You are right Observer - unless you are willing to make direct contact and share your true identity, you will just need to be patient.

2008 regulations - and the calendar - will be public in December.

Hi Broomsticklady

Sorry you thought that I was trying to be humurous. I was just making an observation.

Was my observation wrong?

Don't worry Mr Observer - I've seen enough of your other posts to know no humour intended ... BSL

This is published in Speedsport Scotland magazine which anyone can buy so they can not be "secret" anymore.

PROVISIONAL Scottish Hillclimb and Sprint Dates 2008

There is also supposed to sprints at East Fortune on the 3rd and 4th of May.

So is there 18 rounds in the sprint championship?

Ah! The problems caused by misinformation..... The calendar published in Speedsport Scotland was not intended for publication (or checked with the co-ordinators, unfortunately). Yes, there might be 18 rounds - but there might be 14 - a lot depends on what happens over the next few weeks.

The advantage of more rounds is that it might ease the pressure on some events, and give people more flexibility in the events they attend - rest assured that the qualifying score will still be based on a reasonable number (if there are 18, we won't ask people to do all of them!)

Also, my apologies on behalf of the editor for the '2005 Championship Review' headings. It was not his fault - clearly whoever proof reads the mag before it goes to print had other things on their mind....
