Just seen an un-marked BMW 530D on hard shoulder between Stirling and Falkirk, red and blue light's in the rear window and red and blue light's in the front grill.
SF 15 KFX
Grey Metallic.
An update, got a better look at it today cruising around Falkirk. It has cameras in both front and rear windows. Both occupants gave my Audi RS Q3 a real good looking over !!SF 15 KFX

A83 Rest and be Thankful near Loch Fyne restaurant. Black or dark green Jaguar XJ. Didn't get the number as they were parked at an awkward angle and blocked in by a marked Volvo.
So watch out on that nice bit of road, luckily I was doing 60 !!.
What made you think the XJ was unmarked police car? I would guess if it had discreet strobes then it is more likely to be Royalty or senior Politician. This is what David Cameron uses (as did M in Skyfall !)So watch out on that nice bit of road, luckily I was doing 60 !!.

Had a look online and Im quite sure it was a new shape XJ, could be mistaken and it could be an XF . What makes me think it was a Police car, let's see the 2 uniformed officer's and the 2 officers in black trousers and police fleeces, they were all having a good look at a blue Honda in the ditch.Came to Scotland section for something else but I have had a laugh reading this thread. Love the 'decloaking' comment..
So, taking into account the collective information, what is the current spotters guide for unmarked cars in Scotland?
- Mostly German saloons and estates, seems to be most often BMW, especially 5'ers.
- Any basic colour (including white!!)
- Any Reg prefix
- Often under 3 years old (but a fair few on older plates spotted)
- Base spec often, a few 6 cylinders, but nothing top of the line/no M cars/RS/AMG etc
- Probably will look a bit lowered (is this true?)
- Might have a roof rack LOL!
- Won't have obvious aerials etc.
In other words, getting harder to spot.
Is lack of a dealer sticker in the rear window still a reliable sign? Any other giveaways?

SV13CLZ, Grey A6 TDI spotted again in Aberdeenshire. A90 a few miles south of Ellon to be more specific.
Basic looking alloys, camera at passenger side or rear view mirror, small black ariel on rear roof.
Lots of 40mph limits around the AWPR roadworks and impatient white A1/A3/A4 lease car drivers waiting to get caught.
