I spotted a White 3 with LF number plate beside House of Sher, when did they change from SF plates ?
when the regional forces merged to create police scotland there has been a bigger variety of plates other than the SF's.
Police Scotland was created in 2013.

Could they perhaps be using cars confiscated under the proceeds of crime act?

Or - more likely - just leasing them. Certainly not as easy to spot

Yesterday a colleague got done by an un-marked white Volvo (sorry, model unknown) while Northbound on Rannoch Moor. Cop used a laser gun from the Glencoe Ski Centre ski junction. Really long range, just after colleague had cleared the left handed curve, if you know that section.

The old adage, if you can see them, it's too late.

Know the road well and by looking it up, the bend that your colleague is referring to is 2.3 miles or 3.7km away from the junction, so surely that's a world record for the longest ranged speed gun or your colleague is telling fibs?

Said colleague was driving an artic and wasn't aware of the trap until he passed the junction. Looked in his n/s mirror, noting the way the Volvo hastily pulled out of the junction to follow him, he realised too late it was likely an un-marked traffic car. Colleague is sometimes called "Toot Toot, Flat Oot!"
He was 56 mph (90 kph) on the Speed Limiter, 40 mph limit for LGV's on a single carriageway in Scotland.

Surely the two lines of burning Bitumen were the dead giveaway?

Saw a good collection on the M80 passing through Cumbernauld on Tuesday 18th. 2 Octavia Estates in slightly different dark shades of silver, a BMW 3 Series estate, again in dark silver, and 2 Honda motorcycles one a metalic red VFR800 and the other a white VFR1200. All had plates starting SF12.

I didn't see them pull anyone, so assume it was a training day.

I've seen a fair few London registered police vehicles whilst working in Glasgow.

Based on who/how they were driving I wouldn't assume they weren't traffic police.

It's already in the wiki but I spotted SV13 CLZ (Silver Audi A6 3.0 TDI) in Tesco Westhill this afternoon. I was about to call them a pair of cocks as it looked like they were away to park in the disabled spaces (couldn't see the badges/uniform at that point), but they were stopping to have a close look at a ropey Fiat Diablo van/mpv thing that pulled in before them. Passenger got out and wandered up to the Fiat.

They were gone when I came back out so no idea what was said smile

I just visited this thread to post about that very car (the silver Audi A6, not the Fiat). Saw it on the A96 near Kintore after it had pulled a car over, blues flashing away.

Furry boots is this wiki?

Was at the Scottish Car Show at Ingliston today ...nice to see tax payers money being spent on sensible traffic car. Seemingly the officer actually owns a Mustang of his own .
