well it was filmed in the last couple of weeks for sure.

Johnston terrace is open and the pavement sign outside the blue blazer has only been there for the last couple of weeks.

so either the most amazingly talented, speedy and lucky (to find such footage) editor going or just a liar.

Who cares how it makes him feel, that is irrelevant, he broke the law. And, yes, lots of people break the law each day, but they either do not get caught or they are not stupid enough to film it and put it online.

No, I've never driven like that, especially in a built up area on the wrong side of the road. Yeah I'm sure we've all strayed above the limit occasionally but no excuse for this.

Next time I fall foul of the BiB? If I ever drove like this I'd expect a jolly good hiding from them.

There breaking the law speeding 10mph above say a 50mph limit, but comminting a number of serious offences and could have lead to a death by dangerous driving is just stupid. Anyways, if i remeber right, didn't the orginal video in the comment from the poster say something like "A video on my way to work early in the morning"

Nope.

Serious error of judgement on the part of the driver.

He did this and posted it for publicity, you don't do runs like that and take risks like that and not want to boast about it.

He reckoned he would have been getting praise for great driving and video, maybe he has in some quarters. However on here he has been righgtly lambasted and in the cold light of day he has now realised how stupid it was and must now be bricking it.

If the posts on here had been "brilliant video" I bet he wouldn't have been slow about coming forward and taking the praise.

Absolutely stupid driving and the number of offences he committed must at least result in a ban. He should also be given community service and that should involve sweeping the deserted streets in the middle of the night. Down the middle of the streets because its dead safe at that time innit????

Daft is a huge understatement. Did he stop to think about the damage he could have done someone?? Red lights are there for a reason, I'm sure no one needs to explain them.

He was incredibly stupid, twice, assuming he was driving. He is the one that has to face the consequences of his actions.

It would be a large stretch of imagination to assume he does not drive like this regularly. Lets imagine he had made more than one video of his antics, over time, and it went unreported. Say he happened to cause an accident, seriously hurt someone, or kill them, then what would you be saying? My guess is 'Someone should have stopped him sooner'.

Just reading ziplob's post gave me a headache.

The driver in the video's actions are a) dangerous, b) stupid and c) selfish. The fact he sourced/uploaded/hosted a video condoning it is what's p1ssed this website's community off so much.

Anyway, ziplob, let's address your concerns in some sort of order.

^^ Have you actually met any of us in real life? We are all 'keen' drivers and enthusiasts, but we don't feel the need to go speeding through city centres, handbrake turning a car, running red lights, running wrong ways... etc etc...

^^ Understatement of the year, chap.

^^ The tone of those two sentences back-to-back would imply you ARE defending him...

Hard life, innit.

I stand by my decision to dob this guy in. Am I grass? Probably, yes. I have no qualms about that. Tonight, a useful analogy presented itself : I was in the toilet of one of my regular haunts when someone gets out some coke and starts cutting.

Did I tell the barstaff that this man was responsible? No. I just told them that someone had left some powder on the counter in the loos. Up to them whether they follow it up.

Same with this video. Some tt barreled through Edinburgh, my home town, and drove like an absolute cock. So I told those people responsible for looking after the place, ie the police. If said cock is stupid enough to post videos under his own name, then that's his fault.

Furthermore, if anyone from elsewhere reading this and objects to that, then I would graciously invite them to suck my hairy baws.

(Edited last line because I'm aware that the majority of folk at the previously named sites are actually agreeing about the weapons-grade cock-socketery of this fool)

Have another rofl
IMO - Good on you for reporting him.

It MAY have been early morning, at a time when very few people are on the road, but that's no excuse - it was selfish, irresponsible and just plain idiotic.
Driving like that deserves a ban in my opinion.

Just wanted to chime in as another supporter of reporting the video.

If anything this shows Pistonheads in a very good light - like minded motoring enthusiasts who for the best part don't feel the need to drive dangerously in the wrong places to get enjoyment from their cars.

I think we've probably all broken road traffic laws at some time in our driving careers, some more often than others. Some with more serious offences that others.

What concerns me is that you seem to have difficulty in making the distinction between flouting a law slightly (e.g. 81 on a motorway) and what is on that video.

You've missed the point spactacularly.

The intent of the collective wrath has not been to 'grass' on this individual, but to demonstrate concern for what could have happened and indeed - based on the driver's obvious inability to a) control a car properly and b) drive responsibly - what may well happen in the future if he's not reprimanded or at the very least, st-scared that he will be and realises the stupidity of his actions.

I'd estimate the time this stunt took place to be approximately 06:00 on a weekend. As an example: what sorts of people do you find on the streets at that time? Young, naive paper-boys/girls, drunks staggering home from pubs and clubs and early risers out walking dogs. What for would it have taken for one of the aforementioned to run or stumble out into the road without looking? And what - given that the driver appeared to be hitting speeds at least double the limit - would he have done in such a circumstance?

I was horrified; not because he arbitrarily ran a few red lights/undertook several cars/performed a poorly executed handbrake turn(s), but because I could quite clearly see that, had someone run out in front of him (or driven in front of him for that matter), he'd have no place to go.

The point therefore is to ensure he learns from this exercise and doesn't endanger himself and others ever again. Frankly, if you cannot see that, you're as much a moron as the driver is.

We've all done silly things (and I hold both my hands up here); however, it takes someone really special to ignore the incredible risk he presented to others by driving through narrow, poorly sighted, bumpy city streets at the speeds he did and then to assume he'd be praised for his 'heroism'! For that, I fear only a severe penalty will make him see the error of his ways.

We're not vigilantes; rather the point is to protect those who are potentially at risk from this fool's stupidity. Hopefully, with the actions of a few on here, that will be achieved.

Completely agree with above post... well said

I am sure most have gone beyond a certain speed once in a while but it certainly isn't racing through the centre of a Town and running Red Lights, let's face it he could have posted footage blasting along a Motorway or Country Road, why not?!?!, because he wanted to post something a bit more insane, dangerous and just plain stupid... you draw the line somewhere, but the video has gone WAAYYYYYYY beyond it.

I thought for a minute FG you had your fist customer!!!!! With a few drinks in her she probably would for a laugh. Watch what you post on the net..... it can get you in to trouble. Sorry Ave if i have the wrong opinion of you...... i just feel that if anyone tried to take the pee out of you then it would back-fire as you ripped them to shreads. All in a nice way of course. One more thing Ave.... why is your drivers leather seat worn.... nothing to do with hairy baws i hope??

Back to the topic.... I enjoy a good blast, but i won't speed through 30 & 40. I probably did a few times when i was 17 and was lucky enough not to run someone over. If Les was diving the RS and it looks very probable, how would he feel if he ran someone over and killed them while driving like that? How would he feel if another driver killed someone in his family? If you get away with that sort of driving, then you might think no harm done.

If Les is a decent Guy, then i hope he has learned his lesson and changes his driving ways. Should he be banned, thrown in jail, lose his car? I think whatever it takes for him to look at what he has done and save any quick (but safe) driving for quieter open roads. There is a time and a place and Edinburgh city centre ain't it.
I can fully understand why there has been a big reaction to this. If someone drove like an idiot through the street of Falkirk where i stay, then i would do something about it too. Maybe if Les gets through this in tact, then we could invite him on a ph run and show him how to drive in a safe manner (and suck FG baws).
