I moved from Crewe (a dump) to work near Wrexham in 2008. If I thought Crewe was bad, nothing prepares you for Wrexham itself.

As others have said, you don't have to go too far to be in truly spectacular countryside, and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. I bought a house near Mold, which gave me a 25 minute commute to Wrexham, before changing jobs.
As I said, i lived in Leeswood. Used to love going to Mold market when I was little. No idea if they still have it. Proper old fashioned 'take over the town centre' type market.

Born and Bread in Wales and love my Country dearly but I can't disagree with any of the above, it really is oozing sore of a sthole.

But go a couple of miles in any direction and it's lovely, if you like rural living that is.

They do. Every Wednesday and Saturday. One of the things that attracted me to the town.

Whats with all the Wrexham bashing? This is my home town born here and lived just outside for 30 years. Like all towns there are nice bits and rubbish bits I wouldn't move. I have a nice 3 bed house with a garage for the MX5 I have Snowdon 50 minutes one way Liverpool, Manchester 50 mins the other, I have countryside 5 mins walk from my house yet the traintakes 7 mins into the town centre. You could live in much worse places believe me!

OP If you ever need a guided tour drop me a PH. Mines a Guiness.

Where did you live? I could see why some people would get the wrong idea living in the wrong areas.

Head out a few miles in pretty much any direction and you'll find some nice rural areas. Lots of people near me work in Wrexham - it's a pretty easy commute.
+1 West are some great hoon roads, Chester is nice East side is good for M6/M56 & Midlands

Mold looks like a good bet also, can't believe how low the rental prices are (compared to Essex)

Yes you could but there are so, so many nicer. Have you ever lived anywhere else? I lived in N Wales for 18 years and all my family are still there. Wrexham is up there with Rhyl in the khazi stakes I am afraid.

Liverpool. Believe me I wouldn't wish Liverpool on my worse enemy if you think Wrexhams bad live in student digs in Liverpool for a week!

I do live in a nice bit of Wrexham, few miles outside.

I agree with Quinny on that one. I used to live near Hightown (I think), and didn't think it was too bad until I lived somewhere else...

7 minutes on the train from the town centre would take you somewhere markedly better already, where about do you live?

Ah right Hightown isn't the best. I as a kid I lived in Acton I now live out of town down Mold Road near Moss Valley.

Ive lived and worked in Mold, nice and rural but dont expect a social life there its a quiet market town you will need to go to Wrexham or Chester for a decent night out.

North Wales is a lovely part of the world It is stuck in the 1980s. I don't view this as a bad thing necessarily - I do think lots of the locals have a different view of what's nice or not. My family included.

From what I've seen, the north side of town (where Acton is for those who don't know) isn't too bad, as long as you don't have to go into town too much... Now I see where you are coming from...

From the ages 6 to 26 lived in Hope (don't we all)hehe to be fair, back then Hope was. Nice little village and I was happy living there....

From 26 through to 37 Gwersylltfrown.... Hated it, and I didn't live in the rougher parts either...

Got away from the place at 37, and haven't looked back for the last 12 years...

Wrexham is a great place to come from, preferably on the A483 heading in either direction....smile
You know, one of my biggest worries growing up in Leeswood, was the terror of having to go to the big School in Hope. Dreaded it. I was happy at Ysgol Derwenfa, with my chums, and the countryside.

This is very do-able. Two of my former colleagues who also live in Chester cycle. Where is the job?

Is the OP Still around? Wheres the job offer?

I think the consensus is that like most towns and Cities you can find nice areas and some complete stholes to live in. A few miles outside of Wrexham towards either Mold or Chester and you can find some really nice places to live and some very nice country pubs with good country roads out of Wrexham to them for a hoon of a Weekend.

For anyone with kids (or thinking of having them) schooling in NE Wales should be a matter of concern.

Erm, sorry to break this to you but the consensus appears to be Wrexham is a sthole.
