Black Slate locations for photography

Coming for a hoon to North Wales at the weekend and want to track down some nice black/dark rock locations as backdrop that will offset my green snot-rocket.
Any locals care to recommend roads/spots that might be suitable?

Not quite sure if you could get anywhere close to get a good snap, but the Horseshoe Pass could be an option. You would need to drive part way down the pass, and try and park on the right, but it could maybe be done...

Other than that, you need to head over towards Blaenau Ffestiniog - loads of slate there!
