Hi,

Does anyone know if a current Pistonheads user owns my old Griff? It's a Starmist Blue / Magnolia 500HC, which was originally registered N755 GLC. I sold it in 2005 to a guy in south west London (I think).

It looked pretty standard when I sold it, but I'd spent a fortune on the engine with a Taraka cam rebuilt, ACT triple throttle plenum, race exhausts etc. etc.

Can anyone help me?

Have you looked on the Dvlas site to see if it's still listed ?

No, how do you do that? I've had a quick look on their site and can't see anywhere obvious.

just put the reg no into Westealanycar.com and it came up with the right details, but I don't know if that necessarily means it's not on a private plate now.

Not coming up on AskMID, so I'm presuming it's either SORNd or it's running on a private plate.

Identifying features of the car are:-

Starmist blue with blue hood / magnolia half hide
Blue wheels with polished rims

Under the bonnet, it loooked like this:-

I think if anyone had seen it recently, they'd remember it!

I can see why you want it back now - must have been good for factory quoted power figures....

"DVLA website -> Vehicle Enquiry" says N755 GLC is unlicensed and has been so since 01 Oct 2009.

Do you know if that means it's been transferred onto a private plate or it's been scrapped?

I had it dynoed at 330bhp and 330 lb/ft. Other than what you can see, it's got Bosch injectors and air flow meter, Mark Adams chip and tune, race cats in ACT headers, Taraka cam, solid lifters, and probably more that I've forgotten about.

Wow that looks amazing.. That is pretty much the spec I am working towards with perhaps the addition if mapped spark.

I like the additional carbon fibre bits to match the plenum.

I made those bits myself along with the 'Red Bull' coil cover. All the water and fuel pipes were chromed, the tanks and rocker covers polished, with Samco hoses and Magnecor leads. All in a bid to tidy up an otherwise ppretty ugly RV8 engine bay!

I don't really know.

I believe that if it is now on a private plate or has been scrapped N755 GLC would not appear on the DVLA site. If it was SORN the DVLA site would say so. As it just says it is unlicensed I would assume that the car could be languishing in a garage, field, barn or breakers yard, and that the DVLA have not received notification of scrapping or SORN.

That would be a tragic shame. I'm hoping someone on here is familiar with the car's recent history and maybe knows or knows of the owner.

We StealAnyCar.... Ha nice one !

That engine bay looks great, you must have put a lot of work into it. But don't give up, good chance it's still out there.

Very impressive indeed I have engine bay envy now!

Can I correctly assume you are looking for your old car as you would like it back or are you asking out of interest? According to the DLVA it hasn't been scrapped so chances are it is tucked away safely in someone garage or perhaps it is on a private plate.

If you are serious about tracking the car down it might be worth contacting the TVRCC as well.

A bit of both really. Whilst I'm not in a position to buy the car back now, I'd like to stay in touch with the current owner, so that if he did decide to sell in the future, I'd at least have the opportunity to have her back!

I'm not a member of the TVRCC anymore. Is there anyone here who is, who could do a check for me?

Good luck to all you guys trying to track down your old cars.

I'm personally on a bit of a mission (and have been for the past 20 years or he so) to find out what happened to my Dad's green Mark 5 Ford Cortina registration number NVV 987V. He sold it to a bloke in Hemel Hempstead, UK in June 1990 and I would love to know what happened to it? I'd love to think it was still around somewhere in someone's garage but realistically I'd imagine its long gone.

It may be best to email the TVRCC club office as they would be the only ones with access to the owners records. Even if they did hold the records then I doubt very much that they would disclose them under the Data Protection Act sleep. They may offer to pass your contact details onto the new owner?

Anyway back to your Griff. May I ask you where you got your shiny pulleys from? Are they just the originals powder coated or are they new stainless items? They look great cool

I have also just seen the spec list in you profile wobble..... epic! Why did you get rid of her again? wink

I had my Griffith 500 from Easter 2002 until Summer 2005 and developed the car to hone it into what suits me exactly. I did some track days and learned how to drive nearer it's limits without it scaring my pants off.

The Car:-
95N Griffith 500HC in Starmist Blue with full Magnolia Hide.

The Mods:-
Recored Radiator
TVR Power Taraka cam and engine rebuild (no plenum mods)
Baffled sump plate
Blue Silicone water hoses
ACT triple 50mm throttle plenum & airbox
Mark Adams chip
Weber Maserati Green Top Injectors
Blue Magnecor HT Leads
Hot start relay mod
Blue Silicone AFM - air filter hose
Bosch Air Flow Meter
ACT Stainless Manifolds and Twin Racing Cats
JP Sports silencer
Wilwood Superlite 4 piston racing front calipers and 300mm vented disks on alloy bells
Braided steel brake lines
Modwise boot kit
Red Superflex Polybushes
Nitron Suspension, set up by Steve Guglielmi
Rose jointed anti roll bars
Sparco FIA race seats
Oh, and a little Union Jack badge on the back!
With the exception of the seats that is pretty much the path I have planned for mine albeit very slowly.

Anything steel was chromed, and anything ali was polished.

I'd had a few niggly reliability issues, and my company driver was up for renewal, so I sold it and bought an M3 CSL, which I then sold to go racing in a Caterham for a couple of seasons.
