Evening Guys
Well after inspecting the engine loom, i decided to sort the wiring, what a mess, no wonder the car dont run, most if all the connectors where lose or broken, earth straps where corroded to fook, wires hanging off and most, if not all, the vacuum pipes from the EFI where lose, clips not done up and wires which were just cut and left with no insulation, so after 4 cold hours all the above is now sorted, dizzy leads run correctly, all electric plugs wd40 and engine bay has been part cleaned
Tomorrow i will attack the PAS pump and steering rack as it's covered in oil and is a right mess, there are some electrical connectors in this area which i want to check and clean, the only good thing is the bonnet is held on with 2 nuts, so easy to remove and access these area's, i,ll also remove the starter motor and make a start, but its located under the exhaust manifold and looks a right bit*** to get at
I did also give the car a quick wash and the piant work is looking really good, but here's a strange thing, all the door shuts, head light pods and parts of the engine bay have not been sprayed to a finish standard, so i,ll have my painter sort these out as it looks really poor.
Well thats it for today, am bloody cold and going to have a bath, but am really please with the car as a hole, it looks like it wont need to much to get it looking good or running.
Cheers

Evening guys
well after a hard day the car bit back with a rounded starter motor bolt which stopped me installing a new one, however i took a chance and replaced the soleinoid and it works but is cranking slowly and the earth wire was getting warm ( see my question regarding this), so just need to sort out a new battery and we should be ready to find out what is causing the non starting, i have a few question i hope you guys can answer for me, sorry but new to TVR's
Earth leads at back of engine block
Is it correct that they are mounted on top of the engine lift brackets? or should they be directly fitted to the heads as i feel the earthing is bad.
Down to the right of the dzzy is a hole in the head which has a thread, any ideas on what this is please
Dials
i have no fuel gauge or any gauges working when the ignition is on??? could this be poor earthing???
Start procedure
Is there one on cold start or should it be twist and go???
Many thanks for you help and here a couple of photo's of the car, hope you like

Hiya, looking good!
Earth leads to the block on the liftin brackets are fine as long as the bolts and holes are clean. Top tip use washers that cut into the metal.
Hole next to the dizzy is for the locking bar secures ur the dizzy / timing
Watching with interest!

Sent on my IPadamabob!

That is a fine looking beast and a bargain..Hopefully you will get it running for this years BBWF..There is a cold start valve and it can cause overfuelling..Here is a diagram that was kindly posted up in order to help with this car previously..Ziga
Hi MrzigazgaCould you confirm what colour the connection plug should be please, as i have one thats brown T/S and one that white CTS, is this the correct order
thanks

Hi Mate..Sorry not entirely sure what colour they are on the V8 as i have a V6 but on mine the plug is the same colour as where it goes onto..If not hopefully someone else can confirm the colour..Are you putting a dark colour over light as regards to the seats...I do know that if so you will see the old colour come through when it starts to scuff and crack...Re-connollising is better but only if you are happy with the colour...Cheers..Ziga

Hi Zigamany thanks, thats what i thought as they appear to be in the wrong order, but will wait for someone to comfirm, the interior will be coloured using the same colour when new, i,ll cut a peice of leather from under the seats and send off for matching, the dynamix stuff is really good and have done a few complete colour changes and never had any issues what so ever, hopefully once spring comes i,ll do a full before and after thread so you guys can see the results, here a back seat out of a Bmw i did last year

and many thanks, i though he had put the T/s and CTs plugs the wrong way and your diagram has just confirmed, so thank you, well another tick of the list and am sure i,ll get my head around this maze of wiring.

Hi Ralph..Well if the cold start injector has the wrong plug on it that could be why it was chucking out black smoke and wetting up the plugs...Which does indicate overfuelling..I do believe others have had a similar issue on the V8 with the cold start injector as well..Sounds like your in love with the wedge..Good stuff!!..You have got a right bargain there..You have some good plans for it and i hope they come to fruition..The seats look well smart..Dynamix sounds good stuff..I know of a good connollising chap..He quoted me £25 per seat if i go to him and £35 if he comes to me..But it looks like you have that sorted...Keep up the good work..Cheers..Ziga

Hi Zigawell i checked earlier and they where postioned in the wrong place, so hopefully am getting somewhere, can't wait to get the car fired up and running as never driven a Tvr so it will be a first and coming out of a 400bhp monster, hopefully it will tick a couple of boxes lol, that re-connollising sounds cheap, where abouts do you live, i am near Purley, surrey and would be very intrested in the guy who completes the work if you are close.
All the best
ralph
