Evening Guys
Well my brain is hurting and this is not a good place for a 48 year old to be, as feel like i am back at school and boy was i s***t at thatlaugh

Still there must be a little brain left as am sure i have found the issue, the cruise setting on the carb rods is way to lean causing the engine to hunt on part throttle, so ( famous last words) all i need to do is change the rods to increase the fuel delivery for the cruise setting, so at present the cruise is set at

16% leaner than stock using 83 prim jets 65-47 rods

So to resolve am going to try

83 prim 63-47 rods which will be 7.9% leaner or
83 prim 62-52 rods which are 3.9% leaner or
86 prim 68-52 rods which are 12% leaner

as there cheap am going to buy the lots and at lease i should have a full range of rods to hopefully sort this out, so i can get the car on to a RR and get it sorted correctly, fingers crossed

Cheers

Ralph

Keep it up Ralph. My car has a lumpy tick over which I put down to a bit of fine tuning. I did change jets but not the rods so it will be interesting to see what you get. I'm also not running my Vac Advance as I could feel the difference with it on. At the moment I'm deep into my rear light mod so I won't be on the road for another while just yet. I hope you finally crack it mate as you have done much to deserve a good run out....

Morning Andy
Interesting about the vac advance as i have read that this carb can produce way to much and cause issues mate, have you just plugged both carb and dizzy end mate? and looking forward to seeing your car at long last mate and good luck with the lights

Hi Ralph - I blocked off the vacuum port on the carb but not the dizzy (Mallory Unilite). I'm also going to up the idle speed slightly too. I don't think blocking off the dizzy will make a difference once the carb is blocked off but I could be wrong.

Hi Andy
I,ll give that a try mate, what happened when you did have it connected? as the vac advance does effect the cruise setting on the carb

Keep me posted Ralph. I can't remember which jets and rods I changed over to but when I'm back on the road we'll hook up an compare notes in terms of idle smoothness and on the road performance.

Possible fitting end to the Post is from the new owner of Trevor as Ralph was moving house and needed the garage clear so he could park his beloved Mondeo out of the rain in the new house, or maybe it was to make some space for the lovely TR4 that he was turning his attentions to.
Kindly Ralph has left me a few jobs to keep me busy- fitting the roof, sorting the cooling fan, winky headlight, choke cable, getting the Stereo finished off and fitting speakers and hopefully getting the Eldenbrock Carb properly set up (I think I've found the ideal bloke with a rolling road and lots of experience of these on a RV8).

I'll post some pics of progress as it happens.

Cheers.
