Washer bottles

Morning all,

Next pop quiz question : the washer bottle that came in the many boxes my '68 Vixen S1 arrived in looks like the image attached but I've no idea where and on what it was mounted. No clues from the washer tubes and there were no holes in inner wings or body that match.

Can anyone tell me where it should go (and post any pics) before I get engrossed in yet more bracket making.

On our 1600M we've got it on one of the chassis rails where the horns are usually mounted, hanging beneath the spare wheel. It was originally zip tied to the inner wing when we bought the car, but I didn't like it there, and it got in the way of the bigger air intake pipe we put on for the heater box.



On the Taimar, its attached to a bracket on the passenger side wing, looks like the proper TVR placed mount.

Hi Steve,

This rather sad thing is my passenger side inner wheel arch. The rusted mess is the bracket for the washer bottle. Mine is almost identical to yours and they were fitted to lots of 60s and 70s cars.

Thanks all, think I'll go for on top of the footwell. I'm not sure my OCD could live with the bottle mounted at an angle on the inner wing!

My S2, had the same bottle mounted on the bulkhead, slightly infront of the side vent.

Hi all

I have a quick question for you. I make aluminium washer bottles for T350's / Tamoras / Sag's / Griff's in my spare time for fellow owners to replace the standard plastic ones

Would this be something you guys are interested in?

Update, I went for the TR style bottle and bracket in the end. I've modified the bracket and fitted next to the battery tray. Not strictly correct compared to the previous posts but as no two cars seem to be alike I'm not aversed to implementing my own solution.

A couple of images of the original washer bottle on my late 1971 Tuscan V6. It was fitted using an aluminium strap at the rear of the passenger inner wing.

Now that is just the job and a good price. These were also used on Lotus Elans for cooling Expansion Bottles

Yes if you look on the sellers listing he has it listed in a number of Marques looking at it i thought it may be possible to adapt it to take the submersible pump above bracket alone is worth the price if the diameter matches those that have the old ones

Those are available new i believe some cars where fitted with them and others the Lucas on the Vixens
