Swimming in the Alvis Stalwart is great fun. The only problem was if it was full loaded and you got engine problems you had to remove the load to get to the engine!
5 mpg was another problem, but when the Army was paying for the fuel then it was not a problem!

Your story is a one I have heard before, but with a slight twist!

The squadie was in fact Irish, he took the fully laden Stalwart from his base in Germany got half way across the channel and turned back as he was running out of fuel! He just got back to France and ran out! The punch line is, his load was Jerry cans full of petrol! hehe

Then the 432, that is still today great fun I used to love doing power slides on wet grass in my 434 at shows!

I tried to e-mail you but the system would not let me!

Do you happen to know any body who may knows him as I have not been able to find out any details of the crews who helped save my life, as I wish to thank them all!
