I really like it, whatever it's history, it's still a very rare beast smile

The only thing I'd do is try and source some cross-spokes (or similar) but what a beauty!

I looked and bidded on this, it was a straight car. My intentions would have been to put it back to original exterior colour and update the interior as wouldnt have thought it would have been red inside and yellow on outside. Although could be wrong on this.

I should have been a little braver at the time as for me a Primrose 390SE FHC would be a keeper smokin

Hi -Well Simon as you say you learn something new every day!! I stand corrected getmecoat and I hope you will forgive my cynicism in earlier posts but as a TVR enthusiast you will know yourself that there are a lot of TVR's around claiming to be a "one off special" or "a factory prototype" or "owned by the Queen of Sheba" etc. As i said earlier without documentary evidence these claims should be taken with a pinch of salt but as you have said documents let me say congratulations on unearthing such a rare beast thumbup !! To me the car looked all wrong with a late reg but early body style and 390 engine and only rumor that TVR produced a car with such a spec is it any wonder it set my alarm bells ringing ?? Still dont like the decals but congrats and good luck with the sale smile

Its a good job that you have the factory build sheet Simon. The wedge police can move onto a new case now! smile
I love this forum but its such a shame sometimes how a deviation from the norm (if there ever was one) for a wedge can cause such negativity. It looks like a great car and a very rare beast!

Not negativity, but healthy skepticism I would say.

The needed information (if correct) has come to light.

Result.

Now to sort out the apparently 1000s of 400'HC' Chims produced ? rolleyes

Hi

AS we know the factory made the 350SE with the 390 engine in it! So thats what likely to have happened here, the made a special order car and put a 390 engine in it!
So in a way it could be a 390 or a 350 but not a SE the dealer is trying to jack up the price with those fake logos!
I wonder if Neil at Race graphics made them?

Andy
Hi Andy,
don't know if I'm right...
My 350SE NCK engine are based on the 1990 3.9/4.0l Rover V8 block and use the hotwire system like the Griffith 400 from 1990...
I think it's not the same like the engine of a 390SE...
(sorry for my bad english)

Cheers chris willy

I was meaning to mention that.

By 1990 the 400SE type engine was being used, whereas the ad' appears to be making out that the earlier (and arguably better) 390SE 3905 engine is in the car...certainly according to the accompanying sales blather.

As a potential buyer I would certainly require that clarifying (with written proof of specification).

Chris

I think any TVR/Rover engine from 89/90 onwards is a hot wire system!

So our 350SE or 400/450 from that date is a hot wire and looking at the engine pics of the car in question it looks like a hot wire!

What would help is if we could see the factory build spec!

Andy, the earlier 400SEs had flapper engines...but Rangie-based. wink

The 3905 bored-out 350 engines ceased to be used at that point though, as far as I'm aware.

So in sum up, its now confirmed as what it was originally built as, and despite the different colour, the wrong trim and the wrong wheels and the ludicrous price I still like it. Pass the Rioja Wyn

On a similar note, I seem to remember a white FHC on a J-plate, J1 ***, which I believe had a 3.9 fitted, not sure if it was original though and think it had been re-registered for some reason, was for sale in Shoreham, West Sussex years ago...anyone know of it?

Cheers, Al.

I'd love a A-framed FHC with a nice 4.6 in it. Good year-round car. smile

I missed out bye £27 on the bidding on the FHC. I actually retracted my initial bids as did Andy Tank.

You're not far off the mark Graham: her ex did in fact rally a Delta Integrale, 'wor lass used to navigate! I think that what tends to worry her is that I drive like I'm on a rally, but without helmets, roll cage, fire extinguishers, road closures etc. whistle
