The 2.9 12v inlet will bolt to the 2.8 heads the later 24v 2.9 is very different.

The 2.9 12v heads only differ on the exhaust side with the extra port. You shoul be able to source one fairly cheaply.

You cant use the 2.9 heads on a 2.8 as the cam is driven the other way!

Ive run emerald since 2000 on a coupke of different cars and didferent setups. On the 5ltr racer we found 30bhp tweeking around with the advance

Its easily programable if you change things and the ability to fault find with a pc is great as you can see exactly whats going on

Ill be putting an enerald on the 24v inthe taz when i get to that point

Not sure if this means dizzy is different or not, but good to know heads are nearly the same - in fact from the photos I've got, I wondered if the 2.9 heads might actually fit on the 2.8 block ? (yeah, very little point, I think exhaust inlet valves are swopped from rear cyls? - just wondering)

Hi Peeps..Well i went for the "Amethyst" mappable ignition system that utilises the existing distributor..The dizzy is locked on full advance and the amethyst unit takes care of the timing..However it has come to light after speaking with aldon who make the unit that there are no maps for the V6 cologne..Let alone a blown version!..So its going to be programmed with the capri 2.8i standard curve which seems a bit of a waste of money in honesty..I have spoken to a couple of rolling roads but they wont touch an aftermarket system!..As the sprintex kit was designed to run on a standard set up engine there is no need for re-mapping the air & Fuel mix..I have had the unleaded heads lowered in compression to accept 98ron unleaded fuel, I think he said it was a CR of 6:5:1..I have the distributor that came with the kit which has a large vacuum diaphragm so in essence i think i have wasted 180 sobs on a ignition system that dont do diddly squat!...(Although i might be wrong)...Cheers..Ziga

don't aldon remap them? or have a list of approved mappers? seems strange that they would sell a product that no-one wants to touch ??

Hi Mate..They said that i could take it to them to have them map it..Trouble is im hardly local to them..There are some maps available but not for a supercharged V6 cologne as they have never done one..They said there is a map for the scimitar but im not sure its for the V6 2.8i cologne as most of them had V6 3.0ltr Essex engines..The rolling roads that i tried deal only with OEM ECU's and wont touch any aftermarket systems especially on such an old vehicle..(Bloomin cheek)..I had a chat with a local sanspeed rolling road and he said he might be able to tweek it a bit...I will see what it is like with the standard curve for a 2.8i capri..Cheers..Ziga

Exactly!..Maybe the standard curve is a good starting point..There is software on a USB stick that comes with the kit and maps can be created..Saved and stored on the unit, I will have a good look at it tomorrow when we plan to start the engine...Cheers...Ziga
