Hi all!
I fetched this project last winter from near Dover. Drove with it this summer, plus did some servicing. It still needs some work, but our winter is long!

Currently tidying up the engine compartment with addition of a supercharger:

I did bin the original ECU and flapper type air flow meter with good results last summer.

See the rest of the photos here:

That looks interesting..A centrifugal supercharger..That could be the route for V8 wedges that want more power..Looks quite compact and that bracket is cool..Ziga

Superb stuff! Converted it to LHD too, that's dedication...

Must be 'fun' on ice... they're bad enough in the wet!

Thanks for you comments!

I have also an other Wedge, its a 280i Federal LHD version. I have "new" 4,0 litre Cologne V6 waiting for to be dropped in to it. But that is another story.

I do not tend to use my TVRs during the winter in snow and ice. Currently the weather here is traditional British, wet and 10 degrees Celsius.

I use Firefox also, my photo website seems to be working all right now. Propably it was only a temporary glitch.
Added text for the photos in English. For "Insiders only" section you access using first name of a certain Mr. Wilkinson... all with small letters.

The body work is as it was, when I got the car.
Unfortunately (= means more work) and luckily (= as I dont like it) the bonnet modification on the lefthand side has to go, because the brake fluid cap won't fit with it...
This very car was in some Practical Classic magazine with these mods many years ago. So if someone still recognizes it.

New engine for 280i is from a 1990 Aerostar and originally 160hp. Now it has a hot cam and ported cylinder heads, but not started yet. I will get back to it, when the time is right...

I have not had much time to play with this project as most of my time goes building cars for others.

But I hope to get this on the dyno this week and see what pops up.
Anyway, this is no where near completed, but engine is started up with a ProCharger supercharger today.

There is a short video of it shot with my Nokia Lumia in our Facebook at www.facebook.com/Sporttiauto
Thumbs up, if you like what we do!

Here is a teaser photo:

Just had a look at the vid you have posted, very nice.....
What ECU are you running and do you know what boot you want to get to, i gess you built the engine with lower compression.
very interesting biggrin

I am running ViPEC ECU. (www.vi-pec.com)

Compression ratio is standard (9.75:1) or a bit higher, as the heads are skimmed with a new thin metal gasket.

IInitially I am aiming to low boost, something like 0.50 bar, as I have to get this thru MOT, and there is a power to weight limit in our country.

Initial tune will be done with 98E fuel, but as I have a ethanol content sensor wired to ViPEC ECU, I am able to mix E85 fuel and ECU will match the Air Fuel Ratio, and ignition advance to optimum. Of course, I have to make the calibration to ECU, so it knows what to do and when.

F.Y.I: E85 contains 85% ethanol, and what is the best thing in it: It is 106 octane. I haven't seen this E85 fuel in UK.

It is exiting day today, as I have the car on the dyno.
From now on I will write in our facebook also in English, so you can follow it there if you like wink

So does every test station have a rolling road???

No, they do not have got rolling roads. When one has modified the engine one has to present a reliable proof of the power, torque and boost. Printed graph from a dyno session is considered as a proof for it. Once it is approved in MOT, one will get the modifications marked to the vehicles registration papers. So next year they know at the MOT, that is is approved. You do not need a new dyno printout every year.

Do not ask me, what some drivers do after the first approved MOT...

Allovance is +20% more power compared to the orignal power, but one may go under 7 kg/kW weight to power ratio.

I have got too much power for MOT now frown
238kW at appr 0,4 bar.
Will have to re-tune, or should I say de-tune it.

A short video will follow, after I get it out from the camera...

Hmmm so for your dyno graph I guess you can put bad fuel in it, fiddle with the timing and put a throttle stop/restrictor on it, all easily reversed after the MOT if you were so inclined ;^)

That's great off a 350i engine, only one bhp less than mine on a 400!

I am guessing the extra is coming from the 105 octane juice plus the ECU which self-tunes by the sound of it.

I am pretty happy with the result. It is more or less what I expected.

Started with standard power with original Lucas system. Here is the graph: http://jannenr1.kuvat.fi/kuvat/Projektit/TVR+350i/...

Replaced the Lucas ECU with a standalone ECU removing the flapper got me here: http://jannenr1.kuvat.fi/kuvat/Projektit/TVR+350i/... (Graphs show standard engine and the same engine with a new ECU.)

And now we are here: http://youtu.be/YndLIU1SmKs

There is a slight misfire at the top range of revs and we have to sort that out, before we go on and change to E85 fuel.

By the way 238,5kW equals to 324,36 horsepower wink
It would push more, but I will not rev it any further with standard internals.
