got a bit more done recently fitted the rocker covers and painted the sump but the real focus has been the electric power steering which is now all ready for fitting tomorrow ,i have machined the original sliding section of the column to fit to the spline from the power unit had to make up a mandrel to facilitate getting the spline dead square to the column prior to welding ,i have also fitted a spherical bearing to the end of the column where it passes through the bulkhead had to machine a small bush to get the two together but all fits nicely, then the task of making the fixing bracket to go with the strengthened mounting under the dash all should be good got it all painted tonight but you never know

back on the wedge in earnest for a little while, got the clutch on then discovered that the little blocks with a hole in that fit on the pegs on the clutch release arm are missing obviously been like it for some while as the pegs had worn into the carrier so i have had to machine up two new ones which slowed the process down a bit but all good now gearbox on new oil filled ready to drop in the car tomorrow.

Is it just me - or the colour of the engine - but does the plenum cover look unusually high up on your engine?

Is that due to the surrounding hoses/pipework not being present ? (The orange and black is a great colour combination !)

I favour putting the gearbox back in first, then you only have the engine to contend with. I know it means wrestling with the input shaft/ clutch splines but it's not that big an issue. Either way there's an amount of lying down and swearing to do biggrin

A bit more done transmission all done up new 7840 fuel lines throughout just the filler to do started on the exhaust cleaned up the manifolds ready for coating and started to mod the over axle sections as the now much more laid down shocks get slightly in the way of the original run.

While you have the manifolds off try playing them with a butane blowtorch down each exhaust port hole - great fun! Looking good.
