this must be the longest rebuild i have done but just so much customer work, but have now set aside time to get on with my wedge and nicks cerebra want them both finished for next season or i`ll be to old, i have finished all the parts for the front suspension and got them all painted ready to install i am going to get the front end of the chassis painted this week so i can get all the front suspension on to have a rolling chassis then get it over to the paint shop to sort the body out whilst rebuilding the engine. some pics below of the front suspension.

Cracking job John, I really like the upgrade for the rear suspension you have fitter for the trailing arm, I wonder how long it will last as you hear of wedgers having to replace bushed every year.
I also like the top rear mount for the rear shock if you don't mind I think ill be doing that this winter on mine as I have coil overs front and rear plus I really like the front bottom wishbone as I've made an evolution for my coil over conversion but its going to get a mk2 version this winter as well.

Looking forward to the next instalment.

big push yesterday and today repaired all the stress cracks caused by the front body mountings parting company, got the front half of the chassis and the engine bay all ready for paint off to the rollcentre tomorrow for the cerby roll cage but will be getting some etch primer on in the afternoon hopefully.

been at it again today got the engine and gearbox pressure washed and the engine stripped, it will need a new camshaft and followers, crank regrind, valves lapped in but bores are surprisingly good so rering them after honing all should be good, few pics below of the strip down plus a couple of closeups of the worn cam and followers

Aye, bit of copper showing through on that crank front main bearing shell methinks... when I rebuilt my engine it was still on its factory 93.5mm pistons at 102K miles with no wear step or ovalling of the bores.

All i can say is..."WOW"...I love looking at this thread...I think we should have a new BBWF award..."The Best Thread on PH" Award...Definitely want to see this Wedge at a BBWF sometime and possibly in a Calendar...The work you are doing is fascinating and shows a unique engineering skill level that makes a lot of sense...The suspension upgrade looks a really worth while application..Especially for modern driving...I think preserving the over all look of the Wedge is of the upmost and if mods are to be done then any that concern the braking..Steering..Ride are good ones...Looking forward to the next instalment...Cheers...Zigabeer

An ORANGE Wedge.....scratchchin...Cant wait to see the finished colour...I always thought that it would look a bit too loud but was contemplating it with the 280i...But with black wheels....Interesting.......
