Update: Body is at repairer's. Here are some photos:

Back end looks good. Can anyone tell me how many bolts secure the lower rear valance to the car? Is it 2 bolts or 4? Also, should it be painted black or body colour?

Front end is the issue. The nosecone is new from TET, but the curvature varies from one side to the other and also the bonnet is proud at both front and back. Looks like it may have flattened out over the years. Repairer has put some weights on it to see if it comes back.

Hi mate...Good progress...The valance is normally body colour..As with bumpers and spoilers...Although there is no rule..Is the bonnet the original one?

Thanks Zig, yes the bonnet sat loose on top of the engine bay for 10 years, then upright in my garage for a few months.

Could of quite easily warped in that time, Especially if it was warm...Mine has a sunken mid-section, Only by 3-5mm, Its noticeable but doesn't bother me..I think its one of the hazards of fibreglass bonnets...I was told that TVR did reshape them if people wanted them to..They obviously need warming up and persuading but i wouldn't even dream of it unless i had an original mould to lay it in..Delilah's was okay as there were 3 bonnet vents that actually helped in traffic, Providing the fan is good...Not sure what to suggest...I meant to ask also if the bonnet is locked down or just resting...If the latter then it would be proud....Ziga

Oh...Can you get a snap of the side of the car showing the new section from bumper to passenger or drivers door please...Im wondering now if the angle is right on the nosecone...

Not seen the car yet, these are the repairers photos. Might get out there tomorrow. Yes, bonnet is just resting, no hardware on the car at all. I recall that the throttle mechanism (2.8 motor) used to foul on the heat shielding, so if the middle is lower than is used to be then that won't be good. Following that other thread on heatshield.

If it's proud at the front all the way along that implies that the mounting bushes for the bonnet pivots are not in the right place.

First make sure the bonnet bolts are in position then try again. If it still sticks up they'll have to cut our the bushes and glass them back in at the proper height.

At the back it's the striker plate that sets the rear closure height. This might have some adjustment available.

Great point Adam. There may be an option to drop the captive nut a little. Uncharted territory though. Bloody handmade cars!!

Before doing any chopping probably best to check with TET that it's the right thing to do (in case they have a better idea). Bank holiday here today so they may be in tomorrow.

Ok got some photos yesterday but have to resize them before uploading.

In the meantime, I noticed that the bonnet now encroaches on the windscreen wiper. There was a cutout in the bonnet already but it looks to me like the bonnet is too far back.

Can anyone with a similar car (1984 280i) please post up a photo or two of where the bonnet sits in relation to the wiper post and the corner of the windscreen please? I have a sinking feeling he's cut the nose off a little too high...

Thanks
