thinking about doing something with my old 280i.

Got clouted at both ends and previously perfect (restored) chassis may not be straight since the shunt, 8 years ago. Mechanicals were all in great order at that time.

Options range from selling it for parts/rebuild and re-license or buy another and use for parts. If I attempt the repair,I am not a tradesman and will require help from those that do this stuff for a living, but can probably pull it to bits given time. I will try to show some pics that show the major damage, so looking for your thoughts gents - once I work out how!

Hmmm, you are at a slight disadvantage, being about as far from every other TVR wedge on the planet as you could get... whistle

I'd say whip the shell off, have a good look at the chassis and take it from there.

if you go on the tvr car club north America classifieds I believe they had 4 280i that never sold you may be able to import a body shell I now its a long shot but it may be your only option if the body is total loss hope this helps

If it was hit front and back on the shell only, and no impacts on the wheels, then your chassis is probable fine. Let's see the piccies!

P.S. Love Interceptors too!

Not a big market for parts locally I think; Better fixing it I think. I'd look at replacement bits at TEC and having them shipped in. Grady.

Hi..If the fibreglass has extensive damage then a good body shop should be able to cut off the old and graphed new on,Preferably someone who has experience with fibreglass..As said TET have what you need..Inspect the chassis for cracks..Corrosion and signs of stress..The chassis is quite low in comparison to modern cars so you might of been lucky not to have damaged it..Get it checked nethertheless...Cheers...Ziga

PS:Pics please..(Sorry if its a painful reminder)

"'Tis but a scratch."

This does look repairable to me, get the chassis checked for straightness and damage before you start.

If the owner would ship and the cost was reasonable would this be any use....

Thanks, I've emailed him. There's another whole shell in Holland for similar money. Depends on shipping costs to here (not cheap to transport something this size across the world!), it might be cheaper in the long run to bring over a running car and use mine as a donor?

Looking at that I would say there's a very good chance the chassis is fine, apart from the rust that might have accumulated over the years. You may still have to lift the body to check it.
