Hi

Well the fest has happened and the usual thinks have been brought up about things which didn't happen.

I am not going to make excuses for any thing what happened during the day or evening I will just say what happend and you can decide for your selves.

Fri afternoon my friends and relatives help set up the various tents and signs, plus arrange cars into there correct parking areas so there were lines ready for the next day.

The Fri evening went well the pub did a great spread.

Sat morning, we had to do a hastie reaarrnge of the car parking and signs due to the hotel not closing the car park as agreed!
Thanks to Hamish and other wedgers for marshalling the cars (Due to the appointed person failing to turn up to do it.)

The welcome point was opened and manned at 9.15!

Traders
CWR had arrived and set up!
C&R Automotive had arrived set up!
ACT cancelled due family problems.
Car valeter failed to arrive, he left an e-mail Sat to say his pressure washer had broken on Friday.
Windscreen man has not been in contact so no idea of why he failed to turn up!
Obsolete TVR e-mailed Sat to say they had van problems!
Rolling Road was contacted mid morning and was found to have been broken into Fri night and was attempting to get to us as soon as the Police had finished there work.
Which he did mid afternoon, to late to hold the higest BHP comp etc. But he did agree to stay over night and do runs for anybody who want to do it on Sunday!

In all 65 cars arrivied and attended the fest, On the hottest day of the year!

The run out was arranged and advertised for 2.00 pm (14.00)
Unfortunatly some body (We don't know who!) decided to either go home or go down the pub at 1.45 and did a burn out as his party piece as he left! People thought that was the start of the run out and jumped in there cars as tried to follow him!
Thats why the run out appeared not to be organised. Adam who was leading as per previous years was ready at 2.00 pm but most cars had already gone!

The loudest wedge comp started at 3.00pm, only six people had bothered to complete the entry form, so they did all the cars who were asked when the owners were asked, were done!
Due to the heat the revs were reduced to readings at 3,000 rpm to not cause any problems.

The Tug of War was to be organised by one of my fellow organiser (the same person who was designated to do the car parking) but for some reason it didn't happen in the afternoon, but it did happen after 10.00pm to much fun!

The press car comp was held, but the car failed to start, so we still held the comp and the answer is the AFM over fueling the engine big time. The reason it failed to start was due to the engine still being chocked up from the previous day!

The presentations went on as planned at 16.30

With regard to the lack of charity auction there was only ever going to be a charity raffle, we have never done a charity auction.

The whole event rasied just over £600 and the final amount will be anounced at a later date!

During the evening presentations were made to Oliver and John Box for the work on the wedge and 350i.

Elvis did his usual great show which was followed by the live disco and Tug of War!

So that what happened at the fest!

A big thank you to my helpers who with out there help, the fest would not have happened.

Also a big thank you for all the wedgers who attended.

With regard to things to do, all I can say is we ask you for ideas etc and we can only provided certain things.
The Traders are a law unto them selfs and they are always a problem.

On a personel note I have found a hotel in north wales who would be happy to accomadate us. But I don't know if they would let us do what we do and that would need to be investigated, by who ever you decided you want to run things in the future, if you chose to use that place or the Chase etc.!

The thing I am happy with is that after three years of running the fest, is when we started (Adam and my self) we had no infrastructure.
We now have a Bank account which will have £300 towards setting up cost for next year. Our own Gazebo and sound meter and now a Tug of War rope for future years!

All I can say to the people who have complained moaned etc is. how about you gents putting you selfs forward to run the event.,
Which includes being prepared to putting your hands in your pockets if there not enougth money raised etc to pay for all the costs etc!
Sign contracts with the hotel, which means you agree to reinbursh them for any rooms not taken, and any damage done by wedgers who they can't find to claim from.
Find some form of public liability insurance.
That is some of the down points of running an event!

Andy

Andy...You can name and shame me..You dont have to put "The appointed person"..When i asked you what was happening due to half of the designated area being filled with cars from a wedding you said you didnt know and people might as well park where they like..You then asked me to ask the two owmers of the two cars in the first half of the car park to move which i did but which nearly ended up in a fight due to the stroppy pricks who owned them being awkward drunken wkers..I did also try to park people but hamish was doing such a good job as people were arriving and by that time everything had been shuffled to suit and was in order..Admittedly no thanks to me...

Again..Yes it was me!..But due to only being designated on monday before the fest time was a bit tight to sort a rope..I had previously posted up suggestions whilst bumping the post concerned but no interest was shown by anyone including you..If i had been asked a week before the fest then it would not of been a problem..However..A rope was sorted..Which was by you i believe and the tug of war went ahead later in the evening...Also at the said time for the contest the dutch were nowhere to be seen so there was NO contest at the said time!

Well im sorry mate but this is your post...
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
and you did ask me to get a nice print and have it framed and signed by oliver to be AUCTIONED for charity...Ok i went one better and convinced a professional artist to paint a watercolour of an early FHC..Her usual price was £200 but after some convincing as regards to money being raised for charity she offered to do it for the deposit price of £50..I then had it framed in a nice burr walnut frame...£30...Then kindly got Oliver to sign the back of it..If i had known that it was going to be left on the raffle table for someone to take for the price of one raffle ticket then i would of either...

1. Got on the microphone to try to encourage people to bid...
OR
2. Took it back home!

But instead it ended up in the hands of john box who probably has bundles of pictures and is also a friend of oliver winterbottom so didnt need his signature either..He has never spoken to me and im sure he is a very nice man but all i saw was the painting laying by his feet face down nearly getting trod on and to be quite frank i feel it was a bit of a liberty not asking me after the trouble i went to...As i said it was not about the money its the principal of it...
I appreciate and respect the fact that you are head honcho as regards to organising but in fairness you had no right to make that decision without asking me...I try my hardest to defend you and help you in any way i can but im sick of being treated like a piece of st..Im a big arse 50 year old man...Not some little kid!...Please do not take this as me having a go at you as im still a bit pissed about it TBH and just need to get the facts straight...All in all you and everyone else did a fantastic job but shyte happens and sometimes we have no control over some things but please lets not lose control over the things we do have control of...

I also still have the money donated by myself and others towards whatever charity you are proposing giving money to..

Sorry for bringing all this up but it had to be said....Please dont take it the wrong way...Thank you...Ziga

I don't like to argue on hear with you, but to turn up at 11.30 and ask about the car parking arrangments was not the time to do it! 9.00 am was, by 11.30 they were all mainly parked due to Hamish doing it,
When you were asked to do it over a week ago!

The same goes for the Tug of War you showed an interest in running it over a week ago so we gave it to you to continue with the organisation!
I ended up buying a rope as we could not find anybody to help provide one.
All you did was buy a whistle for you to blow!
All you had to do was take the names off the list on the forum and talk to them and arrange things on the day or before hand if need be!

But sorry you were side tracked most of the day doing something or things for your self!

With regard to the raffle we have always done a raffle not a auction. Mrs Box had the right to choose the pic just as the people before her had, but she chose to. She purchased a raffle ticket just as ether other person did. Sorry if you felt it should have been done by another means but a raffle is how we do it! Last year we had two very generosly given F1 Britsih GP tickets which were of great value than your picture and people had the option to buy tickets for those and they only raised £30 so a pic of a picture I am sorry would not have raised any more than it did! The fact Oliver had signed it may have helped but when you concider when people were asked to donate to a presentation piece for Oliver all we got from them was £60 in total, why would they give money for a pic with his signature on the back?

As I have said if people want to run it next year please come forward so we can get things changed with the bank and they can then take over the responsability of the great event!

^^^^^^^ what he says.

Zigga is a big friend of the Dutch.

May be next year Andy can do his Mr Tank Show at the Ettington Chase again, so the rest can re-invent the BBWF at another place.

Hi Andy, myself and Carob organised the BBWF in 2009 and I sympathise with you, organising the Fest is all the comments you have written, plus a damn sight more! And all done for FREE! Congrats on another successful event, hope to get to next years event but will probably still be Wedgeless.

Andy, With regards to the run out, I was in one of the first cars to leave (check out the video in another thread), around 1:50.

The car was your 350SX, driven by Chris. Great car, and the driving was non too shabby either.

I appreciate the amount of work you, and ALL the other organisers / helpers did to make BBWF2013 happen, but you do need to calm down and step back a bit sometimes before posting on here.

You are a great chap, and a true Wedge enthusiast, but sometimes you can come over a bit on the sharp side on the forum.

I think we should have BBWF2014 in Blackpool....

^^^^^^^ what they said...

Mr Tank, I couldn't care less about the details: hammering (publicly!) on "a fellow organiser" (!) in an initial threadpost (!) is completely below anything!

In no post-BBWF thread has anyone attacked you personally; everybody thanked you explicitly for your efforts!

If you can't stand the heat (of critics), stay out of the kitchen.

Bert

All organised very well by Mark don't forget! Credit where credit is due.

Big thanks again to Andy, Mark and Wayne plus I did forget before to mention all Andy's entourage without which much of the setting up wouldn't have happened.

I have no problems with a post mortem (I have asked for criticism myself after previous BBWF's to keep it keen) but let's try and keep it civil ;^)

From where I'm sitting there is no need to apologise, it was merely setting out the facts.

Hi gents

I am completly calm.

First, I did not name anybody (I delebratly did not name anybody) all I have done is answer a few comments made in another post by explaining what happened during the day with regard to traders and why things didn't happen.

Please look at what been said, the person who got out of his bed and named him self because he knows what happened was correct and he has appoligised for it!

With regard to the auction/raffle we have always called it this and the person concerns knows this as he has been to three other fests and they never had an auction, like we don't in fact have a "Banquet" its a buffet!

Its a thing we have done as a pi_ _ take!

I am very happy for somebody to take over the fest and run it. As I said please come forward so we can get you name on the account so I can get my name removed.

Andy,

Everyone knew who you were referring to, despite there being no names mentioned.
The charity element may well have always been referred to as an auction when in reality it is a raffle, and it would not have prevented us making our donation, but IME an auction entails audience participation beyond merely buying a ticket and hoping to be lucky. In addition, I believe that an auction gives the possibility of increased revenue for the charity of choice. Anyway, we all know now.

It's also very unfortunate that the typical response to criticism levelled in connection with any TVRCC events is trotted out here - effectively put up with it or do it yourself. Hardly calculated to engender a spirit of friendship or unity, and one of the reasons I gave up contributing to the TVRCC forum some years ago. Too many egos. I thought and hoped that we were all bigger and older than that.
