I am steering towards fuelling as my problem on the 400SX. Probably something to do with the pump or filters etc.

To help with diagnosis, and subsequent tuning up, I'm thinking it's time to get a wideband lambda sensor with a display. The one I am eyeing on the flea is £150 and comes with data logging to a PC. So I can see the instantaneous plus log stuff as I drive.

Any experiences with these? Recommendations?

I am sure Martin (Hatter) will be along shortly as he has fitted one to his SEAC. Although the Gredge has lambda's fitted I am going down this route for real time AFR to compliment the 14CUX RoverGauge telemetry

Yes the tech-edge looks reasonable and I can set it up to drive an easily-red very cheap gauge. Actually I can just connect my multimeter! But I may as well set up a panel display.

If you know someone over there who can post it you as a used, secondhand item of little value.

Can I be first in the queue if you give up Adam?

The spartan one is very cheap but has no data logging capability (which I would prefer).

I do have a US branch office I can ship stuff through if necessary.

However the tech-edge one is £134 ex vat and the equivalent 14.7 one is £115 at US prices, so not that much difference.

I've got a part share in a Innovate LM-2 which does do data logging but its was about £300 which is why I only own half of it, however the same amount of beer tokens doesn't buy much rolling road time so it's a good investment.

Pretty neat device though, the log below was following some fuel rail pressure adjustment, which while showing a bit rich on here was pretty much spot on when checked on the rollers at the fest.

Annotated plot, using the Wide-bands RPM input and a couple of analogue inputs for the TPS and Flap by piggy backing the LM-2 into the ECU plug(s)

No officer I'm not tuning my car on the road honest.......

Yeah I have heard the Innovate ones can be unreliable - if you've got a working one then great - but others have had problems.

I heard that too about the LC1 it's got some really bad reviews.
LM-2 seems OK and it has had quite a bit of use !

Mine's an AEM gauge and it seems to work well; I bought it on the recommendation of a friend who also got good results. It has very fast response and the gauge is easy to read; it enables hours of fun changing settings and watching the effect! I have no faith in chassis dynos as they generally only run at full throttle; it's the part load and transient effects that are of interest and the gauge responds fast enough to be able to tell what's going on.

The AEM has a bit of data logging but I would have to log my TPS and AFM separately though some A-D convertors. But it comes with a display (anyone got pictures of the display running?)

The tech-edge has two pulse and two analogue extra inputs so hopefully I can log rpm too against AFR and the inputs. But no display. And slightly cheaper (which pays for me to make a display).

If only it were possible to fettle a narrow band sensor to do the job, £18 delivered in the UK when I last looked.

Even the wideband ones are only £30. THe rest of the cost is in the electronics and even though I suppose I could make my own, it's a matter of all the calibration etc that's gone into it.

In the long run I expect I will replace the innards of the 4CU with something, and that of course will have wireless so I can see the log on my 'phone, which has oodles of memory anyway.

OK on triggerwheels:

2J2 with no sensor
(- inc VAT £30.00,
ex VAT £25.00)

So not on its own but the difference with or without.

The whole field seems to be beset with ripoffs - just been looking for M18x1.5 thread stuff (to install an extra bung and port) and you can pay up to a tenner for a bung! Seems the cheapest M18x1.5 bosses are actually 1" long tubes for use with rose joints - cut one in half to make 2 ;^)

Persistence paid on the flea!

Tech-edge 2J1 including sensor _and_ a display all in for £90.

Bung and stainless M18 port just purchased for a fiver all in.

Just wondering if I can get it fitted with the manifold still on the car?

Let me know how you go with that, I've still got to fit mine, where are you going to put the sensor?
