The ride on my wedge hasn't been the most comfortable, in-fact bloody painful. Spent yesterday with the wheels off doing some odd jobs and took time to adjust the rear dampers. Maybe I'm not tolerant because coming form a chimaera they're a bit softer.

The previous owner must have had a fetish for pain because they were on their most stiff settings! Wound it down to the lowest settings and then increased damping by 5 clicks and took it for a drive. (wheels back on first obviously!)

What a difference! It's actually quite pleasant to drive!

How stiff are most peoples wedges? I've heard from some people that most of them rattle your fillings out; My car doesn't do that anymore.

Yes that's exactly how I set mine - one click off hardest on the front (where the engine is) and fairly soft on the back - where my arse is.

Much more comfortable and still points in the right direction.

The only other improvement that can happen to the ride is if the outrigger tube at the rear snaps through next to the diff (this can happen every 20k miles or so) and then it's even more comfy! But maybe the chassis isn't as strong.

Hi All
When you are talking about dampers are you meaning like adjustable Koni for instance? I have these on my 350i but cant work out how to adjust them. I have put Koni on Google but still not sure what ones I have. They have two nuts, one for locking up I assume. Has a square on top of that in middle. I assume you would slacken off both nuts and adjust via the square. Problem is don't know what way to go, clockwise or anti. The front feels far too soft and does move about at high speed, fine at normal speeds. Have tried one side but chickened out and put back where they were.
Sounds like you guys have got it right, would like to try this

Yeah the Koni's are a faff because you have to take them off almost. As I recall you drop the bottoms out of the front wishbones? or is it undo the top? then extend it out and you can then remove the bump stop, then you push it back in and the top engages with something on the body so you then screw it in or out.

You should be able to tell the difference by pushing and pulling on it. I had mine set pretty hard when I had konis on there.

I preferred Spaxes because the adjuster was on the outside. Although konis are better the spaxes could be set pretty quickly for different uses.
