Well me and him have spent the afternoon in the garage with her, she scratches bites and makes things so bl00dy awkward and she never effing happy. Had to replace 4 bushes in rear suspension tie bars, bolts came out of chassis ok then to the first hub. Nuts off fine, shock off fine, then that bolt, that 250mm long one. Ten tons of pressing pressure shifted it about 1/2" and it said no further sir. So angle grinder on the inner part to get the tie bar off the hub, then 8 tons to get the two halfs of the bolt out of the hub and cutting the excess off as it came through into the centre of the hub.
Now we need the two bolts to put back in and bolt it all together again, lots of copper ease too. Pressed the new hard poly bushes into one bar, still got the other side to do but we know its gonna be that bolt again. wooly and little wooly.

Are you sure? Almost every suspension bolt I've seen on a Wedge has been 1/2".

Yup, 1/2" but 10" long or 12.6mm x 260mm.

as I'm also taking my wedge apart I have noticed one big thing........on my old Taimar you could strip almost the whole car with a half inch spanner..........my wedge has every bolt size under the sun.........10mm, 11mm, 1/2 inch, 15mm, 17mm, 5/8..........you name it I've got it...........such a pain

I think when it goes back together I may standardize.........I guess they didn't think of that in 1980 lol

I think that's because by then Ford had started switching to Metric (the Cortina was a Taunus in most of Europe and IIRC was designed in Germany along with the V6 'Cologne' engine) whereas anything robbed from old Brit-designed cars tended to be UNF/UNC.

ETA what I find odd is that when TVR came up with the A-frame redesign it would have been well into the Metric period yet all the bushes and bolts are Imperial sizes. This makes me think that despite claims that TVR 'had the bushes made specially' they were actually cast-offs from yet another deleted vehicle and there happened to be plenty of old stock lying around to be had cheaply...
