Has anyone got this fitted? The offside front lower bolts sheared on mine last night whilst going over a pothole. Wonder if this was a known issue?

Oooh...dont get me started. My advice for you is to get rid ASAP as its not safe and before you do terminal damage to your upper suspension mounts. I speak from personal experience...

Previous owner already had the near side upper suspension mount collapse and had to get a replacement fabricated.....not a good upgrade then?

Deffo not a good upgrade. I would get rid ASAP as the product is not safe. Even the people from GAZ who supplied the shocks had severe reservations as you should too..

Hardly surprising really, the rebound force of the spring in a normal installation goes directly into the pressed steel lower arm, whereas on a coil-over it has to go through whatever bolts secure the bottom of the coil/damper. I forget what size they are on the Cortina setup, I doubt it's more than 8mm. If one failed, the other wouldn't be far behind.

When we changed the racers to coil over we had to reinforce the wishbones and mounts to stop everything bending, twisting and snaping. The std front suspension eventually ripps the top mounts out of the chassis never mind modified
