To say im P1553d is an understatement ... fixed the heater mechanisms, and the re-wire of the center dash illumination. re-assembled everything, Installed the new Stereo, all working perfectly ... Then the Clock stops .... not only has it stopped, but the second hand has fallen off !....

Does anyone have an working VDO clock kicking around that is surplus to requirements they wish to part with for beer tokens ?

Very annoying frown

Mine died a few years back and i struggled to get one...although dad picked one up from a auto jumble which i think was from a Volvo, same clock but orange hands rather than white and worked fine + is a VDO.

Good luck

The clock is based on a particularly obscure IC that is no longer available; it gets upset by reversed polarity or booster chargers.

I think this may be it ... Car has been on an Optimate all winter and Ive been using my Jump Booster when it hasnt been on the optimate... its seen better days ... the adjuster doesnt move the hands any more... its quite sorrowful.

Looking on FleaBay, there are a few VDO Porsche / VW ones kicking about for a lot less than the cost of refurbishing this one... and ive found a company that sells new ones for £55.

Might just bite the bullet, get a new one frown

Mine hasn't worked for four years and is stuck at 10 o'clock... but then again I have very bad punctuality so when it was working all it did was tell me how late I was... I didn't need the hassle so it remains broke!

Need a clock to adjust forward velocity when judging what speed is required to meet the ferry on Le Mans trips ... Plus wouldnt want to arrive too late to purchase alcohol at the HyperMarker smile
