Hi guys
Dont post very often and i need some help
My 450 flapper cut out today and upon investigation i found the yellow wire had gone brittle and broke
Rubbing on plenum .
Can anybody help with with a good second hand one for dosh, beer or whatever.
I have checked with rimmers there 100 squid? Obviously a last resort.
I would like to know if anybody has a good spare.
Thanks
Greg

Got a Dremel with a carbide burr? You can grind the pot. casing away to get access to the remaining bit of wire, solder on a new length and snot it up with some Araldite... I did mine in 2002 and it still works fine biggrin

Is it the same as a standard 350i Efi unit? If so I've got one spare? I'm not an expert so someone will have to confirm suitability.

I bought one from a range rover classic .. couple of quid on ebay.

There are only a few possibilities on a throttle pot for wiring..

Hi guys
Many thanks for you swift answers.
I will hunt a spare down sometime.
The repair looks ok so will test it when it stops raining
The voltages are all spot on so should be ok.
Thanks keith but its the later one
Ian i owe you a beer .
Just out of curiosity when the pot is disconnected i know the car runs fine but does it go on limp mode so to speak .
Does the ecu just read from AFM?

Yeah the AFM will meter the air and give some fuelling but the enrichment from the throttle pot opening won't happen. I suppose it will be quite down on power and there won't be a squirt of fuel to get it going when you floor it, it will gradually pick up because of the AFM opening as the revs rise.
