Another body off!
Discussion
Well that's just under 500 miles done since the Mot, Millbrook alpine circuit 5 times plus 7 laps of the high speed bowl at 100mph, nothing fell off. Had an odd not charging problem after the speed runs which went away on its own and it looks like the new pinion seal is leaking a little. Overall the rebuild has turned something that felt like an old car that was generally soggy into a nice drive, ok it doesn't handle as well as a newer tiv but it's a hell of a lot better than it was - overall well chuffed.
Nice to talk to a couple of other wedge owners today too
P.s. Zig - video to follow mate

actually i like that look, the straight pipes side by side straight out the back especially if bent upwards like on the s series system! nice! i might go this route rather than chopping the boot about!

And onto the exhaust...
A big box of bits arrived from www.304stainlessexhaustparts.com, custom made 2.5" to 2x 2" Y piece to my specifications four 2" bends, a 2.5" flange (oh err..) and a couple of rather nice 3" tailpipes, plus a roll of 308 mig wire form fleabay..
After a bit of cutting, quite a lot of welding (first go at stainless went reasonably well)
Y Piece attached to the original "silencer" via the flange, chassis cleanance is much like the rest of the system and measured with my new special tool..
Hmm could stick the tailpipes on and go for Elise look, maybe not, the rest will have to wait until the body is on....

hmmmm looking at this it seems not impossible to upgrade earlier car with trailing arms like mine to the later wishbone style set up, maybe a swap of diff subframe and addition of tie bars or am i way of course here?

There is nothing wrong with trailing arm suspension as long as it is in good order...John Halstead...(Egineer1949) did a really amazing upgrade to his trailing arm 350i which makes a whole lot of sense...
Aptly page 3

The 390SE was the decided max limit to run on a trailing arm suspension...However there are cars...One Wedge in particular that is running a 5.0ltr small block on it...When the 280i was supercharged i upgraded my bushes to Superflex as they were a bit more industrial compared to the new/Old stock ones...You ever seen a 30 year old tyre on a car...I have and it was a Wedge....
Hope this helps.
