Hmmm scratchchin Nah I'd miss the flares....

Had a good sort out of suspension bolts today, ordered a full set of the upper wishbone washers from oldfordparts before Xmas and I've now found that both front lower wishbone / chassis bolts have a bloody great step worn in them ?? The step is also worn on the top of the bolt at the "nut" end and the bottom of the bolt at the "head" end !!

I suspect it's these censored solid bushes it's had fitted, if you think about it the front suspension has to work in a arc as it's following the tie bar, if you replace the rubber bush with nylon there is no "give" at all which wears the bolts out instead. One thing I can do with the flipping flu is spend money....

Well if you don't like the body no more why not go for the Wedge Atom?

Fit the seat, steering column, pedals, ECU and ECU wiring harness. Maybe an engine cover of some sort too.

Should weigh about 800kg all in...

An evening getting bushed, solid nylon ones in the front wishbones pushed out OK. Inboard rears removed with a bit of heat and a bloody big vice, outboard ones stuck fast so burnt most of the rubber out and used the bible method.

Cheers Rich,

I think my paint is a lot worse than yours the bootlid is like 80 grit sandpaper now ! I've got a fellow TVR owner looking into options to cover the damaged paint with something as a temporary fix !

I'm still doing battle with the diff but found out last night that the seal kit didn't come with new oil seal dust covers which got trashed removing the old seals.... frown

We then had much fun with more low flying polybushes - the Tina inner wishbone one's are a 'kin nightmare to get in but we got there in the end.

Whoohoo - Something is fitted to the chassis !

Bizzare - none of the jag spares people or jag for that matter have the bearing seal retainer / dust shields in stock. Weirdly the part is in stock in the USA, maybe it's the Dana connection!

They even work out cheaper than the Cortina wishbone bolts which should have been diamond encrusted for what they cost!

Flaming diff !!

Fitted the new pinion seal last night and the spiral spring around the rear of the seal popped off and no amount of fiddling would get it back on again, so £12 of brand new seal in the bin and an order off to SNG Barrat for another one which will hopefully arrive around the same time as the output seal dust covers !

I did however get the front tie bars, steering rack and EPAS pump put into place although I need to visit my local fixings supplier for some new nut's n bolts to hold it all together.

Let battle commence...

Replaced both output shaft seals, plus dust covers, reassembled output shafts, fitted a (second) new pinion seal and got the whole lot bolted back together. Then swore a lot getting the 2 front lower diff bolts in as the lower mount fouls the bolts so you have to faff about to get them in anyway the result of lots of toil and swearing...

Hurray diff back in chassis !!

Anyone know what order the washers for the upper mount bushes go in ? Looking at the bible the large washer is between the diff Ali top mount and the bush but looking at the rust on the washers on my car the big washer must have been on top of the bush ?

Meanwhile around the front (avoiding the diff relate swearing at the back of the garage) the old man has been quite busy and got the rack and EPAS pump mounted

ARB and brackets etc. are going to the powder coaters and I need to find some longer M12 fine bottom ball-joint bolts as my usual supplier only had standard HT 8.8 grade but by the look of the (too short) ones supplied with the ball-joints they should be 10.9....

Easier evening bit of lightweight spannering, front to back brake line fitte. Front tie bars fitted and dragged one of the rear hubs and driveshafts round to see how much more fabrication is needed on the new tie bars, oh and fixing that wobbly wheelbearing!

Mine's drowned in waxoyl but then again it's not pristine underneath. There's no rust and I'd rather keep it that way as I use it all year round. If my car/chassis was immaculate then no I'd probably not cover it in 1/4" of ooze.
