Hi ziga ,

The frames are shot and the stitching has come away on a part of them
I may get them fixed yet they defiantly won't be scraped I'd rather the originals to the buckets but it will have to do for the time being smile

Its a thumbs up for me with the bucket seat all though it could do with been a darker colour for the car, liking the floor mounted pedals, just a thought on your hydraulic hand brake, could it not be mounted on the floor by the seat and use an extended leaver for it just it looks like it may get in the way been on top or you could mount it on the chassis and mod the top padded area for the leaver...

Looking good

That's not a bad idea to be honest I'll have a play see if I can find somewhere better for it , its not so bad where it is plenty of room for gear changes etc be better out the way abit more tho

the pedal box is a lot nicer than the old one , clutch was like a brick!
Pedals feel a lot better now

Makes everything a lot more adjustable also

Thanks for the feed back

Few more bits arrived at work today for the old girl

Some good Ridge hoses the missing piece of the braking puzzle!

One draw in my toolbox at work is dedicated to TVR bits as you can see haha

Only a small update unfortunately I'm still waiting on taking the car to its new home for the winter while the chasis gets some
TLC not a lot of point in fitting most of these bits till the body is back off

Will keep the updates coming

Next on the wish list is a decent MIG welder I think gas shielded the gasless I brought to learn with is crap
Time to upgrade I think

Agreed, I found the difference amazing, my father had a Clark 100en that due to a cock up years ago would only work gasless, a new torch assembly and a bottle of argoshield has made a lot of difference. Assuming that the mig you have is 100A or more you could convert it to gas use gas ?

P.S. if you go for gas don't mess about with disposable or rent free, BOC is cheaper !

I have a 100 amp gassless but to be honest I want as good as I can afford because it will be getting a lot of use over the winter

And bottles aren't a problem due to my uncle being a pub land lord so I can get argon shield on his account smile

After using the welder at work for various restorations on old bmw's the quality of weld is so much better
Neater and stronger

So I think it is defo the way to go smile

Today was quite a good day I actually drove the car all be it off my drive but it goes under its own steam!
Defiantly a Happy lad , probably p*ssed the neighbours off abit with no exhaust tho! Haha

Got myself a new welder to keep me busy with the chassis over the winter
Coil over conversion and some re designing of the trailing arm set up to come
Also to poly bush the rear end

Got the front poly bushes
And the braided flexi's fitted also

Sorting a trailer out at the moment to get it to its new home hoping to be there in the next week or 2

Exciting stuff!

I'm afraid not zig I had to drive it at idle pritty much , if you touch the accelerator its just deafening
To be fair I was debating just putting the exhaust straight through no boxes for the noise but it would be ridiculous haha

When I move it to the workshop I will take a little video smile

Finally got the blasted tree stump out!
That was a long cuple of weeks!
Just sorting the workshop out now ready for her to live for the winter

I've decided to get it through an mot when the chassis is welded up and see how it drives and if anything needs attention before I go fabricating front suspension arms, trailing arms and the coilover conversion etc make sure it drives right and stops really!

I'm very stuck on what colour to paint it tho , any suggestions?

Cheers , zack

Well as the heart is a Beema lump what about a Beema blue...It would also go with the red interior and the chrome...

I would say the Classic blue that my old 520i was but it might not be loud enough...

I think estroil blue is my favorite bmw blue, like this one

Yellow has gone through my mind a lot too like the Renault liquid yellow
This is a hard decision!

Yeah that would be nice too...I think keeping it the primary colour that it was originally but a modern take on it always looks good...Wedges don't always hold loud colours unlike the later TVR models...i:e a lime green Wedge would look grotesque but a lime green Tuscan or Sagaris...Yummy...Candy colours look nice..Especially the reds..My fav was always the black cherry candy apple or the Red pearlescent over a black base...Or this...Formula 1 red pearlescent....

That's exactly what I was thinking zig , they don't suite ridiculous colours unfortunately ,
now I'm pushing towards estroil blue to be honest!

Cheers for the feedback smile

I think it would look really nice...Even if you kept the wheels the same light blue..Although i would go with black and diamond cut polished rims...(Like mine)

Or simply silver with polished rims.....The red interior will look sweet as well...smile

Looking good Zack.

I may have posted or suggested this before but no harm in repeating;

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Engineer1949's build has a load of re-engineered suspension things that would be worth a look. Might save you 're-inventing the wheel' and wasting time that could be spent driving.

Keep up the good work.

I have been keeping a close eye on johns topic , it's a good read for sure ,
I enjoy reading what other people do with a lot more experience than myself smile

The rear tie bars will be the same as johns , trailing arms will differ also the front end will be diffrent too,
I want to fabricate the upper arms that's where my camber adjustment will be in the form of a rose joint
The anti roll bar drop links I want to be attached to the upper arm rather than the lower
This will improve roll so I'm told , 'making the car think it's lower' so to speak

And the lower arm will obviously house the bottom of the coilover and a rose joint to the hub
Nothing too complicated

My paint arrived yesterday for the old girl!
Estroil blue was the final answer can't wait to see what It looks like
Shouldn't be long now before the winters work begins!

Will keep the updates coming smile
