Headlight Motor Info Needed

Hi Guys,
I have a UK spec 87 350i that I imported to the US and have been sorting through some issues and have gotten to a point on the headlight system that I can't figure out.
When you turn on the lights one pod goes up but when the switch is shut off it won't go down. The other pod won't go up but if you crank it up manually and turn the switch off, it goes down.
We have been using the "Headlight Horrors" article as a guide. It seems to me that I saw an article on how to check the motor it's self somewhere. Does anyone recall it or have a link or copy to it?

Brazed up the headers and the car is now quieter inside and I'm not gassing myself now! Thanks for the help on those!

Mine used to do that, it was quite simply a combination of a blown fuse and a bad earth on the pod. Mine was earthed to a point underneath the car where the lower fogs are mounted, obviously rusty as hell.
